Senior Software Engineer - Mobile Applications (Android)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer specializing in Android mobile applications to join their innovative team in Nelspruit . You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying high-quality, user-friendly mobile applications that reach a wide audience. This role requires a deep understanding of the Android ecosystem, a passion for creating engaging user experiences, and the ability to work collaboratively within an agile development environment. You will contribute to the entire mobile development lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing and launch, making a tangible impact on user engagement and product success.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes and mockups into intuitive and engaging user interfaces.
• Implement robust backend integrations and optimize application performance for speed and scalability.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to industry best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior developers.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues reported by QA or users, ensuring a high-quality user experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in mobile application development, with a strong focus on Android.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with a deep understanding of the Android SDK.
• Experience with Android architecture components, dependency injection (e.g., Dagger/Hilt), and reactive programming (e.g., RxJava/Kotlin Coroutines).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and common networking libraries.
• Strong understanding of the mobile development lifecycle, version control (Git), and Agile methodologies.
