Senior Software Engineer
Summary
Builds and integrates HR system APIs (payroll, attendance) for Money Forward’s fintech platform, focusing on cross-system permissions and scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and Kubernetes.
Position overview
This role is responsible for developing interfaces with Money Forward systems in the HR system domain, while helping build the overall HR system structure involving payroll and attendance.
The engineer will work on system integration and platform development across HR-related systems, HR system contributing to a scalable structure that connects payroll, attendance, and related Money Forward services. This role involves close collaboration with related product and platform teams to ensure reliable integrations and smooth end-to-end business workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop a mechanism or set of permissions is needed to enable cross-entity operations within MF group.

Requirements
Required skills and experience
Must Have:
- Experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails.
- Experience designing and developing APIs for system integrations.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to design, implement, test, and document backend APIs.
- Ability to build secure, reliable, and maintainable APIs that connect Money Forward systems with accounting, payroll, and attendance systems.
- Ability to design, implement, test, and operate backend services.
- Understanding of web application architecture and relational databases.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with modern frontend development.
- Experience building user-facing applications using TypeScript or similar technologies.
- Understanding of frontend application design, maintainability, and user experience.
Preferred skills and experience
- Experience developing or integrating GraphQL APIs.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs or other backend interfaces for cross-system integration.
- Experience applying AI tools or LLM-based solutions to improve backend development, API documentation, test generation, or operational efficiency.
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts, prompt engineering, or practical use of generative AI in software development.
- Understanding of API authentication, authorization, access control, and permission design.
- Experience developing HR systems
- Experience operating services on Kubernetes-based platforms.
