Summary
Senior individual contributor who leads the Node sub-team's technical direction, architecture, and code standards at Evry Health, a health insurance company. Role Summary
The Senior Node Software Engineer is a technically senior individual contributor leading the Node sub-team's technical direction, architecture decisions, and code quality standards, while remaining deeply hands-on in the design, development, and delivery of Evry Health's frontend, mobile, and backend platform. The role is full-stack capable — designing complex Next.js API routes, Node.js backend services, and the underlying data layer as needed and bringing a system-level perspective to architecture that considers performance, security, scalability, and healthcare regulatory compliance across the full stack.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Node Architecture & System Design: Leads architecture of the frontend, mobile, and backend platform — component design, rendering strategy, state management, service and API structure, and relational/document data modeling — documenting decisions for stakeholders.
- Senior-Level Feature Development: Owns design and implementation of the most complex frontend/mobile features using React, TypeScript, Next.js, and React Native, delivering production-quality code that sets the team standard.
- Full-Stack Development — Node.js & Next.js API Layer: Designs and implements complex Next.js API routes and Node.js backend services — API design, authentication/authorization, caching, and relational/document database design and access — bridging frontend and backend.
- Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provides day-to-day technical leadership to the Node sub-team — leading code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and establishing and enforcing Node coding standards.
- Performance, Testing, & CI/CD Ownership: Owns performance optimization, testing strategy, and CI/CD pipeline governance, ensuring HIPAA-compliant, secure, and high-availability frontend and mobile applications.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

7+ years of professional software development experience with primary frontend expertise

Deep, demonstrable proficiency with React, TypeScript, and Next.js in production applications

Senior-level React Native/Expo mobile experience and strong Node.js backend capability, including relational and document database design

10+ years of professional experience across frontend and full-stack development

Experience in healthcare technology, health insurance, or another regulated industry

Experience with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, X12, NCPDP) as applied to frontend rendering

Experience with GraphQL Federation/tRPC, monorepo tooling & relational/document schema design
Telecommuting Requirements
- This is a remote position. Our whole company works remotely. Company headquarters are in Dallas, Texas. Candidates must reside in the Eastern or Central time zones.
- Company business hours are weekdays 9-5 CST.
- As part of the interview process, finalists will be required to attend an in-person interview at our Dallas headquarters.
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separate from other living areas and provides information privacy.
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure.
- Must live in a location that receives an existing high-speed internet connection/service.
