The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead core software engineering and application architecture at NovoHeal. You will design, build, and maintain production-ready web platforms, high-throughput backend services, and multi-modal database systems.
Working closely with our Data & AI team, you will establish strong database models, architect end-to-end application layers, and build data ingestion pipelines to ensure complex algorithms, health datasets, and AI workflows are seamlessly delivered through intuitive, secure, and resilient applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Architecture & System Design: Architect, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-availability web applications, backend microservices, and client-facing interfaces.
- Database Design & Architecture: Lead schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning across relational and multi-modal database paradigms.
- Data Pipelines & Integration: Design and build reliable, high-throughput data ingestion pipelines, automated ETL/ELT workflows, and API-first interfaces (RESTful / GraphQL) connecting backend microservices with external health IT systems.
- AI & Data Integration: Partner with Data & AI Consultants to integrate Machine Learning models, vector search indices, RAG retrieval pipelines, and automated workflow engines into full-stack product interfaces.
- Security & Compliance: Implement enterprise-grade security standards, authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2, SAML), and secure coding practices aligned with healthcare data privacy requirements.
- Technical Leadership & Quality: Lead code and database schema reviews, drive CI/CD best practices, maintain robust test coverage, and mentor junior engineers on clean architecture and design patterns.
What We Are Looking For
Core Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on software development experience across the full application lifecycle, with proven success in application design, database engineering, and production system delivery.
Relational Databases: Strong, battle-tested expertise in relational database design, complex indexing, schema modeling, and query tuning (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Multi-Modal Databases: Hands-on experience architecting and managing non-relational database models, including:
- Document Stores (MongoDB, PostgreSQL JSONB)
- Time-Series Databases (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB)
- RAG & Search Databases (Vector DBs like pgvector, Qdrant, Pinecone; Search engines like Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
Data Pipelines & Engineering: Practical experience constructing robust data pipelines, stream processing, background job queues, and automated data synchronization layers.
Software Design Mastery: Excellent grounding in application design, clean code architecture, design patterns, microservices design, and domain-driven design (DDD).
Core Tech Stack:
- Backend: Strong expertise in Node.js/TypeScript, Python (FastAPI/Django), or Go/Java.
- Frontend: Modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Next.js, or Vue.js).
- Cloud & DevOps: Deployment and management on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless architecture, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
Modern Platform & Automation Ecosystem (Bonus / Highly Regarded)
Experience with serverless backends and developer platforms (e.g., Supabase, Firebase).
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., n8n, Airflow) for system integrations.
Exposure to healthcare standards (HL7 FHIR, OHDSI OMOP CDM) or enterprise health IT systems is a strong advantage.
Soft Skills
Strong system-thinking capability with a rigorous approach to data modeling and architectural trade-offs.
