Senior Software Engineer, Payments Systems (AS400 & Modernization)
Summary
Build and modernize core banking payment systems, migrating legacy AS400/RPGLE code to RESTful APIs and microservices while ensuring SWIFT and local scheme integrations remain stable and compliant.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain AS400 / RPGLE-based payment applications
- Support daily operations, incident resolution, and defect fixes
- Understand and support end-to-end payment processing flows
- Maintain and upgrade applications to ensure system stability, availability and performance
- Provide technical support during testing, implementation and post-production activities
Payments Integration
- Work on payment systems integration (e.g. SWIFT, PayNet, MyClear)
- Support integration using MQ, batch processing (Control-M), and file-based integrations
- Ensure stability and data integrity across systems
Modernisation Support
- Develop and support RESTful APIs, microservices and modern integration services
- Contribute to modernization initiatives by transforming legacy payment capabilities into reusable service-based components
- Build robust backend services, APIs, and database solutions to support evolving business requirements
- Participate in full SDLC (development, testing, deployment, support) and Agile
- Troubleshoot technical issues across application stack
- Follow secure coding standards, application vulnerability controls, and compliance requirements
Job Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in software development
- Hands‑on experience in AS400 / RPGLE or legacy banking platforms
- Hands‑on experience with payment schemes: SWIFT, RENTAS, IBG, DuitNow, FPX, or JomPAY
- Experience in banking/payments systems
- Knowledge of SQL / PL-SQL, Unix/Linux scripting, integration tools (MQ / batch processing)
- Exposure to Java / Spring Boot
- Basic understanding of REST APIs / microservices
- Awareness of ISO 20022 and the ongoing SWIFT MX migration
