Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Build and maintain global card-payment infrastructure in Java/Spring Boot on AWS, focusing on high-volume, low-latency transaction engines and distributed ledger systems.

The Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Card Payments Platform, you will deliver worldwide, scalable and resilient solutions to support card transactions across the globe. Your mission is to ensure the architectural integrity of our core card processing infrastructure, guaranteeing its extensibility and reliability for future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Build ultra‑high‑volume, low‑latency transaction engines within the Cards Platform, focusing on high availability and chaos engineering.
  • Collaborate with global Staff Engineers and Product Managers to align regional Latin American business needs with the global technical roadmap.
  • Mentor the São Paulo engineering hub, document architectural decisions, and champion a strong development culture.
  • Architect distributed, fault‑tolerant ledger systems capable of handling millions of peak daily transactions.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in Java 17+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
  • Hands‑on experience operating microservices at scale on AWS, with emphasis on high availability, multi‑region setups, and database optimisation.
  • Mastery of container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS) and a GitOps mindset, using Terraform/Terragrunt to treat infrastructure as software.
  • History of mentoring peers, leading technical discovery phases, and driving consensus on complex system designs across global teams.
  • Fluency in English, with active participation in the local tech community.

Nice‑to‑Have

  • Experience in the FinTech & Payments domain, e.g., card issuing, acquiring, ledger engines, real‑time payment rails (Pix), or banking compliance (BACEN regulations).
  • Advanced SRE practices with Datadog or similar suites for proactive bottleneck identification and performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of event‑sourcing patterns, distributed locks, and high‑throughput streaming with Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Technical Stack

  • Backend Core: Java 17+, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (multi‑region deployment, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS).
  • Data & Streaming: Event‑Driven Architecture (Kafka), advanced database patterns (CQRS, Event Sourcing).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Terragrunt.
  • Observability: Datadog, OpenTelemetry, real‑time alerting.
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working: 3 days onsite per week, up to 30 remote days per year.
  • 30‑day holiday allowance plus work‑from‑abroad policy.
