Senior Software Engineer
Summary
Build a greenfield, cloud-agnostic Kubernetes platform in Go, writing Operators and controllers to automate provisioning, scaling, and recovery across AWS, Azure, GCP, and private data centers.
Senior Software Engineer | Platform Engineering | Go, Kubernetes, GitOps | Global Software Company
- Salary: €90,000 - €120,000 (depending on level of experience) plus bonus
- Dublin: hybrid, 4 days a week on site
Our client is a global software company whose products run behind mission-critical systems in heavily regulated industries. This role is a senior, hands‑on engineering seat on their platform team, where you'll write the Go software that automates a brand-new, cloud-agnostic Kubernetes platform. You'll build Kubernetes Operators and controllers from scratch, with provisioning, upgrades, scaling and recovery all handled in code, and design the APIs that hide the messy differences between clouds.
The platform is greenfield, nothing in production yet, and built to scale very wide, very fast. You'll mentor other engineers and set the standard for how this software gets built.
Non-Negotiables
- Strong production Go
- Java, C++ or Rust considered, Go preferred
- 8+ years in software or platform engineering
- Distributed systems and failure handling
- Production Kubernetes at scale
- Automated testing, unit to cluster level
- Cluster security, RBAC and secrets
What You'll Work With
- Kubebuilder, Operator SDK and client-go
- GitOps CI/CD with Argo CD or Flux
- Helm and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Multi‑cloud across AWS, Azure and GCP plus private data centres
- A fleet‑orchestration platform managing clusters at scale
- Observability with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki
- Service mesh such as Istio, Linkerd or Cilium
Nice to Haves
- Designing and versioning Kubernetes APIs for the long term
- Operators for backup, restore or multi-resource orchestration
- Managed Kubernetes platforms like Rancher, EKS, AKS or GKE
- Policy‑as‑code, admission controllers and container scanning
Why Join / Projects
This is a rare greenfield build. The Kubernetes platform is being written from scratch to be completely cloud and data‑centre agnostic. Product ships one container and it runs anywhere, on any public cloud or in the company's own data centres, with upgrades, patching, failover and disaster recovery all handled in the platform and invisible to the customer. You'll write the Operators and controllers that make that work.
It's a senior individual‑contributor seat with real influence. You'll set engineering standards, mentor other engineers and shape technical direction alongside the Kubernetes architects and SRE teams, without carrying line management yourself. The platform is designed to scale very wide, very fast, as the Dublin team grows over the next couple of years.
