Senior Software Engineer, Product Platform

Summary

Senior engineer building shared technical foundations—scalable APIs, libraries, and platform primitives—to help multiple teams ship faster and more consistently.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Product Platform based in United States.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building the shared technical foundations that power product development across a growing organization.
You will design scalable systems, reusable libraries, and developer-facing platforms that enable engineering teams to ship faster and more consistently.
The role sits at the intersection of product engineering, platform development, and developer experience, with company-wide technical impact.
Depending on your background and interests, you may contribute to customer-facing application primitives or internal engineering libraries and foundational tooling.
You will influence architecture, establish engineering standards, and partner closely with product and engineering teams across organizational boundaries.
The environment values technical ownership, thoughtful collaboration, strong documentation, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

  • Build scalable platform foundations: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality shared systems, services, APIs, and libraries that are relied upon by multiple engineering teams across the organization.
  • Develop reusable product capabilities: Build shared customer-facing components and platform primitives such as notifications, comments, event infrastructure, audit trails, and other capabilities that help product teams deliver consistent experiences.
  • Strengthen engineering foundations: Contribute to internal libraries, abstractions, developer tooling, testing frameworks, and established engineering patterns that create reliable and efficient development paths.
  • Partner across teams: Work closely with engineering, product, and design stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into well-designed technical solutions, and provide clear, well-documented APIs and services.
  • Drive technical direction: Make and communicate architectural decisions, influence technical strategy across team boundaries, and balance scalability, maintainability, security, performance, and developer experience.
  • Raise engineering standards: Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, technical planning, and implementation while helping establish consistent standards for shared components and systems.
  • Enable organizational scale: Produce thorough documentation and create systems that allow engineers across the organization to effectively adopt, understand, extend, and contribute to shared platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to engineering culture: Bring strong technical judgment, collaboration, and continuous-improvement thinking to a scaling engineering organization.
  • Requirements

    • Software engineering experience: 5+ years of backend or full-stack software engineering experience, particularly working with platforms, shared infrastructure, developer-facing systems, or other foundational technologies.
    • Platform mindset: Demonstrated experience building shared APIs, services, libraries, or platform components that are consumed by multiple engineering teams, with an understanding of designing for internal customers and reuse.
    • Distributed systems knowledge: Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and message queue technologies such as Kafka, SQS, or comparable publish/subscribe systems.
    • Technical judgment: A proven ability to make sound architectural decisions and deliver high-quality, maintainable software while balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term scalability.
    • Cross-functional communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to engineering, product, design, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaboration and influence: Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries, build strong relationships with engineering teams, and influence technical outcomes without relying solely on formal authority.
    • Developer experience orientation: Interest in creating intuitive abstractions, reliable tooling, clear documentation, and engineering patterns that make other developers more productive.
    • AI-enabled engineering: Openness to using AI tools to amplify engineering capabilities, accelerate development, and improve impact while applying sound judgment and responsible practices.
    • Benefits

      • Compensation: $195,000–$229,000 cash compensation range, with equity opportunities and additional company programs.
      • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, including full coverage of employee-only premiums for most medical plans.
      • Parental benefits: 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents, along with family planning benefits.
      • Retirement: 401(k) matching contributions with immediate vesting.
      • Time off: Flexible PTO, 80 hours of paid sick time, and 11 company-paid holidays.
      • Wellness: Health and wellness stipend to support physical and overall well-being.
      • Remote support: Stipends for remote workspace, internet, and cellphone expenses.
      • Commuter support: Commuter benefits for eligible team members who work from designated offices.
      • Team experience: Virtual team-building activities, lunch-and-learns, and company-wide events designed to support connection and collaboration.
      • Work environment: Remote U.S. work model with an inclusive environment that values diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
