Summary
Senior backend engineer building Python services and distributed data pipelines for prototype wearables collecting audio/video/IMU sensor data in a lab, plus onsite troubleshooting, network debugging, and monitoring tooling. It's a 12-month contract, fully onsite in Cambridge, UK.
Salary: £60,000 - 85,000 per year
Requirements:- 8 years of professional backend software engineering and data processing experience with Python
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems and Bash shell scripting
- Solid understanding of IP networking, including IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, and routing
- Experience building RESTful and concurrent distributed systems
- Practical experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django
- Develop backend services that integrate prototype wearable devices into data collection pipelines
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize distributed systems that ingest real-time sensor data
- Build automated tools for data validation, system health monitoring, and pipeline diagnostics
- Troubleshoot issues onsite, perform root cause analysis, and debug networks in a live lab environment
