**How would you like to work in an environment in which you can directly shape the product?** At Molten Cloud, we don't believe in artificial boundaries or engineering silos. We don't split our team into front-end and back-end camps; everyone here has the opportunity to work across the entire stack. We pair this high level of project autonomy with a fully remote setup, company-covered AI coding tools, and a healthy culture that actually insists you take your vacation time. Molten Cloud is a media rights and royalties platform used by roughly 80 customers to manage complex rights, avails, and royalty calculations. We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our small, high-leverage Royalties engineering team, working on correctness-critical financial logic — including our next-generation flexible royalty waterfall engine. This is not a “move fast and break things” role. Royalty calculations are the product — customers are paid based on what this system computes, and correctness is non-negotiable. You'll be joining two senior engineers already deep in this domain, and will be expected to own significant pieces of design and implementation with minimal hand-holding. We are a diverse, highly collaborative team backed by top-tier venture funds and prominent investors, including Jack Dorsey, Ashton Kutcher, and Michael Ovitz. **Why You Will Love Working Here** * Large, Interesting Problems to Solve: Our products are critical for the Hollywood industry and we’re sending content around the world to over 100 destinations. The problems we solve are consequential and every day we manage petabytes of data. In fact, our technology touches over 10% of all movies known to exist on IMDb. * Fast-Track Growth: With heavy mentorship and deep trust from day one, even our more junior team members quickly build the kind of influence and ownership typically reserved for seasoned staff. * Modern Tooling: We want you to move fast. The company completely covers your subscriptions for advanced AI coding tools like Cursor and Claude. * A Culture of Camaraderie: We are a tight-knit group and there is a ton of camaraderie amongst our staff. We keep the connection strong with company offsites 1 to 2 times a year. **What You Will Do** * Design and build flexible royalty waterfall logic (tiered splits, recoupment, participations) that must handle a wide range of contract structures correctly * Work in Python against a MongoDB data layer, with a strong focus on data integrity and financial precision in a schemaless environment * Partner directly with product on ambiguous requirements — translating business/contract logic into precise acceptance criteria, not just code * Contribute to test strategy for financial correctness (a genuine gate on this team, not a formality) * Help build out core general ledger functionality (accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, chart of accounts) as we extend the platform's financial foundation **What We Are Looking For** * **Demonstrated experience with financially precise or correctness-critical systems — royalties, billing, payments, accounting, or similarly high-stakes domains is an absolute requirement** * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial production Python experience * Strong data modeling skills, including experience enforcing integrity and precision in NoSQL/document databases (MongoDB experience a strong plus) * Comfort operating with real ambiguity — you'll help define the spec, not just build to one * Track record in a small or scaling company environment * Working familiarity with core accounting concepts (general ledger, AR/AP, double-entry bookkeeping) — we're extending the platform into general ledger functionality in the near term **Nice To Have** * Experience in media, entertainment, licensing, or content rights domains * Experience integrating with external ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Dynamics Business Central, NetSuite) — relevant to a possible future project, not a current requirement * Prior hands-on work building or extending a general ledger, AR/AP module, or similar core accounting functionality * Familiarity with Jira-based, hours-tracked sprint workflows **How to Apply** If you want to build technology that shapes the global media landscape, all from home, we'd love to hear from you. Note: posted salary ranges apply to US-based candidates only; candidates based outside of the US will be compensated commensurate with experience and local pay scale. Principals only. Send your resume to Steve Gold at steve.gold@moltencloud.com. **Those Who Need Not Apply** Our interview process includes live verification steps specifically designed to confirm you are a real, present human candidate. These methods are highly effective and have already identified and disqualified multiple non-human or proxy applicants. If you are not planning to personally attend and personally answer every question live, please do not apply. For everyone else, we genuinely can't wait to meet you.
