Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Join Rubicon Water as a Senior Software Engineer and help build the software behind technology that is transforming the way water is managed in irrigation networks around the world.

We are looking for an experienced developer with strong Java and Angular skills to join our software development team. You will work across new product development, existing product enhancement, customer-specific solutions and the ongoing support and improvement of production systems.

This is a hands-on senior role where you will have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, contribute to software architecture, solve complex problems and help lift engineering practices across the team.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test and maintain Rubicon's software products using Java and Angular.
• Develop robust, maintainable applications across the full software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to software design, architecture and technical decision-making.
• Work as an active member of a cross-functional Agile DevOps team.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across development, test and production environments.
• Contribute to the reliability, performance and quality of software used by customers in operational environments.
• Work with product owners and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Mentor and support other developers and contribute to improving software engineering practices across the team.
• Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing and continuous improvement of our development processes.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who can combine strong technical skills with a practical, collaborative approach.

We're looking for:

• 6+ years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong professional experience with Java, ideally including Spring and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with Angular and modern web application development.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, preferably Oracle.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience working in a CI/CD and DevOps environment.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns and architecture.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced developers.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Maven and automated testing will be highly regarded.
