Senior engineer who designs, builds, deploys, and operates cloud platform services — Java/Spring Boot backend components, REST/event-driven APIs, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, GitLab CI/CD) on AWS and Kubernetes — while driving technical ownership, reliability/security standards, and mentoring developers. On-site in Kuala Lumpur, offered on a B2B contract.
- Drive Technical Ownership and Continuous Improvement
- Shape technical direction, influence requirements, improve solution concepts, address technical debt, and proactively mitigate operational risks across cloud development platforms.
- Develop and Operate Cloud Platform Services
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate platform services, APIs, automation, Infrastructure-as-Code modules, and backend components using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies.
- Ensure Performance, Reliability, and Operational Stability
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through robust design, testing, reliability engineering, controlled deployments, rollback planning, and advanced third-level support.
- Maintain Engineering Quality and Security
- Apply secure coding, testing, observability, performance, and documentation standards; lead code reviews and refactoring; and contribute to DevSecOps maturity and cloud engineering objectives.
- Collaborate and Mentor Engineering Teams
- Work with Product Owners, DevSecOps engineers, architects, and platform engineers to align solutions with organizational goals, promote agile collaboration, and mentor developers.
- Improve Development Lifecycle and Engineering Standards
- Enhance software development processes using modern technologies, including AI, and contribute to technical strategy, engineering standards, and continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Software Engineering and Cloud Operations Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, SysOps, API engineering, or a similar role, including software development and operations in cloud environments.
- Cloud Architecture and Platform Technologies
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, AWS or other public cloud platforms, REST API design, pub/sub messaging, and event-driven architecture.
- Programming and DevOps Tooling
- Practical experience with one or more programming languages, preferably Java and Spring Boot, scripting languages, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools such as GitLab, Terraform, and EKS.
- Infrastructure Automation and AI in SDLC
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automated delivery processes, and applying AI technologies within the software development lifecycle.
- Cloud Security and Operational Excellence
- Solid understanding of cloud security, resilience, reliability engineering, and operational best practices.
- Ownership and Communication Skills
- Ability to take technical ownership, collaborate across functional teams, communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders, and work independently in an agile environment with a customer-oriented mindset.
- Testing and Code Quality
- Experience with automated testing, code reviews, and maintaining high-quality, maintainable software.
