Senior Software Engineer - Secret

This role offers the opportunity to build mission-critical software supporting complex military and defense operations.
You will work across the full software development lifecycle, developing intuitive web-based platforms and integrating diverse data sources.
The position combines modern application development with cloud engineering, DevSecOps, data pipelines, and emerging AI/ML capabilities.
You will collaborate with geographically distributed engineering teams and mission stakeholders to prototype, deliver, and continuously improve solutions.
Your work will leverage AWS GovCloud, containerized environments, CI/CD automation, and secure data architectures.
The role is suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems in a mission-focused environment.
You will contribute directly to systems supporting critical government operations while working with experienced professionals across software, cloud, data, and security disciplines.
Accountabilities:
- Coordinate with geographically distributed cross-functional teams and stakeholders to formulate, prototype, implement, and refine software solutions.
- Design, develop, review, refactor, and maintain clean, reliable code across front-end and back-end components.
- Develop intuitive, user-focused web applications using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and third-party libraries.
- Interface with AWS cloud services and apply cloud engineering practices to deploy, maintain, and scale solutions in secure environments.
- Identify and integrate data from APIs, file systems, databases, and other sources while developing automated data ingestion pipelines.
- Design and maintain data solutions using technologies such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot mature CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, cloud infrastructure, identity integrations, and automated quality and security controls.
- Support secure deployments in AWS GovCloud environments while applying appropriate infrastructure, identity, and security practices.
- Apply foundational data science and AI/ML concepts, including areas such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and natural language processing (NLP), where appropriate.
- Ensure data is securely stored, efficiently accessible, and suitable for downstream applications and users.
- Apply knowledge of network administration, architecture, and security policies to support reliable and secure systems.
- Troubleshoot software and infrastructure issues, resolve defects, and continuously improve application performance and maintainability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering processes, architecture, best practices, and data governance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8 years of relevant professional experience, with significant hands-on software engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience working in multidisciplinary technical teams and applying computer science and software engineering principles.
- Demonstrated experience with both front-end and back-end software development, development frameworks, and third-party libraries.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services and cloud engineering practices; experience with AWS GovCloud is highly relevant.
- Experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery processes.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating data sources and developing data pipelines using databases, APIs, file systems, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and secure data storage and access patterns.
- Experience with identity integrations, automated security controls, and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts, with familiarity with technologies or approaches such as RAG and NLP.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, administration, and security principles.
- Proficiency or experience with technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, React/Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, and SQL is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting military, defense, intelligence, or government missions is preferred, particularly work involving USPACOM or U.S. Army customers.
- Experience supporting intelligence or operational environments is a plus.
- An active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required.
- A valid U.S. passport is required.
- Salary: $112,200–$196,400 annual salary range, depending on qualifications, experience, and other applicable factors.
