Senior Software Engineer / Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Overview

Raytheon UK has a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on our Manchester or Gloucester sites. You'll be part of our experienced software development function, working in a cross-functional team, delivering and deploying critical software across a variety of business areas. Due to the sector and work this team is involved in, all candidates must be willing and eligible to hold SC and eDV clearance. In this area of the business we apply DevSecOps at scale, with capabilities in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security and geospatial intelligence to support the defence, intelligence and cyber sectors. We collaborate with customers and suppliers to deliver secure, mission-critical systems using the latest technologies and innovations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software using industry best practice
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineers
• Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with your project
• Contribute to continuous improvement within your team
• Collaborate with peers on technical direction within your team

Core Software Engineering

• Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
• Containerisation & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

Data & Search Technologies

• Relational Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
• Elasticsearch / Opensearch

Testing & Quality

• Unit testing and automation
• Testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)

Delivery & Collaboration

• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
• Use of code repositories (e.g. GitLab); familiarity with branching strategies, pull requests and merge processes
