Summary
Mid-level full-stack software engineer building TypeScript applications for a federal disability claims modernization program using MERN/PERN stack, CI/CD, and Docker/IaC tools.
Position Overview
SteerBridge is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support the Modern Disability Claims modernization program in Vienna, VA. This role will contribute to the development of next-generation claims analytics and operational software solutions supporting mission-critical initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing modern full-stack applications and working within collaborative engineering environments that leverage cloud technologies, AI/ML capabilities, and modern software-development practices.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, reliable, and maintainable full-stack applications using TypeScript.

Support the productionization and integration of AI/ML-driven capabilities, analytics solutions, and data-enabled features.

Collaborate with engineering, data science, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into effective software solutions.

Participate in peer code reviews, testing, and software quality-assurance activities to maintain engineering standards and application quality.

Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development, automation, and Agile software delivery practices.

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues to support application performance and mission objectives.

Eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship is required for this position under applicable federal contract requirements. Candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance also satisfies this requirement.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience developing and maintaining production applications.

Strong proficiency with React.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

Experience with MERN or PERN stack technologies, including MongoDB or PostgreSQL, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices, with familiarity using Docker and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Experience supporting healthcare, insurance, defense, federal, or other regulated or mission-critical programs.

Experience developing or supporting AI/ML-enabled applications and capabilities.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Experience working within Agile and/or DevSecOps development environments.
