Are you an experienced backend engineer who enjoys staying hands-on while helping others do their best work?
We’re supporting an established marketing technology company in finding a Senior Software Engineer / Team Lead for its Customer Data Platform. This platform brings together large volumes of customer data, turning it into reliable, real-time insights that power personalised experiences across multiple channels.
You’ll take technical ownership of a distributed engineering team, balancing software development, technical decision-making, mentorship and delivery.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead by example through hands‑on backend development
- Support and mentor engineers across a remote environment
- Turn business and user requirements into clear technical deliverables
- Work closely with Product, Architecture and Technical Leadership
- Own day-to-day execution, helping the team deliver consistently
- Maintain strong standards around code quality, testing and maintainabilityContribute to the design of scalable, distributed systems
- Guide the development and operation of applications running on Kubernetes
- Improve engineering practices, communication and ownership across the team
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience building modern backend systems
- Previous experience leading or mentoring software engineers
- Knowledge of distributed architectures, APIs and system integrations
- Practical experience with containerised applications and Kubernetes
- Confidence balancing delivery speed, technical quality and business impact
- Clear communication and experience collaborating across technical and product teams
- A pragmatic mindset. You can explain different options and help stakeholders reach the right impact-versus-effort decision
Nice to have
- Production experience with Go
- Event-driven architecture or messaging systems
- Cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code
- High-throughput or data-intensive systems
- Experience using AI to improve engineering workflows or end-user solutions
