Summary

Inugo, an Auckland parking-technology company building frictionless ticketless parking with hardware, ANPR and live payments, seeks a senior hands-on engineer/architect to design system architecture, lead code reviews, own CI/CD and release management, and mentor engineers — using AI coding agents to accelerate delivery across an AWS-based stack.

About Inugo

Parking is one of the most frustrating, wasteful parts of city life: circling the block, queuing at barriers, wrestling with machines, and burning time and fuel doing it. Inugo exists to make all of that disappear. We build the hardware and software that let drivers simply arrive, park and leave, with no ticket, no app fumbling and no second thought, turning one of urban mobility's biggest friction points into something that just works.

It's a genuinely hard problem, and that's the point. Real-world hardware, computer vision and number-plate recognition, live payments and resilient software all have to work flawlessly at the kerb, every single time. We're a small, ambitious team already doing this for real clients across real sites, and we're now scaling it toward smarter, greener, frictionless cities where parking quietly manages itself.

Join us and your work ships to real drivers, on real sites, fast. You'll help shape the product, tackle problems most software teams never touch, and play a direct part in redefining how the world parks.

Role purpose

This is a senior, hands-on engineering and architecture role spanning system design, code quality, infrastructure and release management. Working closely with our Technical Architect, you'll add senior depth across the engineering team, raise the bar on quality and reliability, and help us scale delivery through agentic development.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and evolve system architecture, integration patterns and technical standards.

  • Lead and review pull requests, upholding code quality and sound engineering practice.

  • Own and improve release management, CI/CD and infrastructure reliability.

  • Write high-quality, senior-level code across the stack.

  • Use agentic development tools to accelerate delivery, testing and code review without compromising quality.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to key technical decisions.

  • Partner with the Technical Architect on architecture direction and share on-call duties on the support roster.

What we're looking for

  • Extensive senior software-engineering experience across modern stacks.

  • Demonstrable architecture and system-design experience.

  • Strong with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS), CI/CD and release management.

  • Hands-on experience using agentic / AI coding agents to deliver high-quality software faster.

  • A track record of leading code review and lifting engineering quality.

  • Clear communication and a collaborative, pragmatic approach.

Nice to have

  • Experience with hardware-integrated, IoT or edge systems (e.g. ANPR / parking).

  • Experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team.

  • Exposure to both hardware and software delivery environments.

Agentic development: what we mean

Agentic development is core to how we build. In this role that means using AI coding agents to plan and implement changes, generate and review tests, assist code review, and automate routine engineering work, always with senior judgement over correctness, security and design.
