Senior Software Engineer - Technical Lead
Summary
A senior hands-on engineer/technical lead in a new Gurugram engineering hub, owning technical delivery of customer-facing software for Aurora's energy market intelligence platform — from design through deployment. Core stack is TypeScript, Node/ExpressJS, AWS Lambdas and React microservices and micro-frontends, working closely with the Oxford team.
- Design, build and maintain high-quality software as part of a growing engineering hub in Gurugram, working closely with the main team in Oxford.
- Take ownership of technical delivery for meaningful pieces of work, from shaping solutions through implementation, testing, release and operational support.
- Collaborate with product, design and engineering colleagues across Gurugram and Oxford to solve complex technical and domain problems.
- Contribute to clear architecture, maintainable abstractions, strong testing practices, effective code review and operational excellence.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools thoughtfully to improve productivity while applying sound judgement, preserving code quality and maintaining high engineering standards.
- Support other engineers through collaboration, pairing and technical guidance, without line-management responsibility.
- Substantial commercial experience developing complex software systems using some of the following: Node, TypeScript, ExpressJS, React, SQL, NoSQL, cloud infrastructure or similar technologies
- A strong track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable software and solving difficult technical problems in production environments
- Strong engineering fundamentals, including clear system design, thoughtful abstraction sound testing practices and a disciplined approach to code quality,
- Experience leading technical work from inception to completion as a senior individual contributor, working effectively with teammates across disciplines
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work confidently in complex technical and domain contexts
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute positively to a distributed team across Gurugram and Oxford
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and operationally reliable software delivery
- An interest in AI-assisted engineering and a clear understanding that AI is a powerful tool to enhance delivery, not a substitute for engineering judgement or craftsmanship
