Senior Software Engineer Technical Leadership Platform
Summary
Lead backend architecture for a crypto payment platform, designing scalable services, improving reliability, and mentoring engineers using TypeScript and Node.js.
You will shape the technical foundation of a crypto payment platform through system design, reliability engineering, and long-term platform evolution. You will own complex backend work, identify architectural and scalability risks, lead technical relationships with partners, design failure-handling mechanisms, improve observability, validate integrations, and mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve core platform services
- Identify architectural risks and scalability limits
- Propose incremental improvement and migration paths
- Lead partner solution reviews and troubleshooting
- Document technical decisions and integration details
- Design retry, timeout, idempotency, degraded-mode, and fallback mechanisms
- Improve metrics, logs, tracing, and operational visibility
- Analyze production incidents
- Build proofs of concept and validate integrations
- Analyze vendor APIs and integration flows
- Implement complex backend components with TypeScript and Node.js
- Conduct code reviews and decompose complex problems
- Share knowledge through pairing and documentation
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional backend development experience
- Deep hands-on experience building and operating crypto infrastructure
- Experience with custody, wallets, exchanges, payments, or settlement systems
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js backend expertise
- Deep distributed system design experience
- Knowledge of microservices, service boundaries, data models, REST APIs, API contracts, queues, and asynchronous communication
- Production experience with incident response, debugging, API failures, and data issues
- Experience owning services from design through production support
- Excellent PostgreSQL knowledge and understanding of other storage types
- Experience with reliability, observability, and production incident investigation
- Daily use of AI coding tools and critical code review
- Ability to mentor senior engineers and evaluate trade-offs
- High agency and practical problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
