This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building high-quality educational applications with Unity and C# across mobile and WebGL. You will work on products used by millions of learners and educators, translating pedagogical experiences into engaging, fluid, and accessible digital experiences. The role combines hands-on development with architectural ownership, performance optimization, testing, and continuous improvement of a mature codebase. You will collaborate closely with Product, UX/UI, and pedagogical teams in a multidisciplinary environment. Cloud-based microservices and AWS support the broader application ecosystem, creating opportunities to work across technology boundaries. The ideal candidate is passionate about engineering excellence, pragmatic architecture, and using technology—including AI—to accelerate meaningful outcomes in education.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and evolve Unity-based educational applications, transforming pedagogical workflows into engaging, performant, and high-quality experiences across mobile platforms and WebGL.
- Design and evolve application architecture with clear separation between business logic and interfaces, applying modularization, decoupling, and appropriate architectural patterns such as MVP, MVC, or MVVM.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, UX/UI, and pedagogical teams to create intuitive, accessible, and effective experiences for students and educators.
- Drive software quality through constructive code reviews, automated testing, componentization, and engineering best practices that improve maintainability and development speed.
- Investigate and optimize application performance and memory usage, including profiling, object lifecycle management, memory leak analysis, caching strategies, and build-size optimization.
- Contribute to the evolution of a mature codebase while proactively reducing technical debt and ensuring the application remains scalable and maintainable.
- Document technical decisions, architectural approaches, and development practices to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and leverage artificial intelligence tools responsibly to accelerate development, problem-solving, and engineering productivity.
- Proven professional experience with C# and Unity, including hands-on experience building and maintaining products or applications in production.
- Strong understanding of Unity performance and memory management, including profilers, object lifecycles, memory leaks, caching strategies, and build-size reduction.
- Experience architecting complex applications with clear separation of concerns, modularization, decoupling, and established architectural patterns.
- Practical experience with automated testing, including Unity Test Framework (UTF), Edit Mode and Play Mode testing, unit tests, and integration tests.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with an emphasis on code quality, testability, maintainability, and sustainable technical decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with mature codebases, identifying opportunities for refactoring and improvement without unnecessarily introducing technical debt.
- Proactive approach to learning new technologies and applying AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and solve engineering challenges.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, design, and pedagogical teams.
- Nice to have: practical experience delivering Unity applications with WebGL in production.
