Role Description
We’re hiring aBackend Focused Generalist Engineerto build and own the systems powering our apps and platform. We expect high competency withdata workflows, integrations, and reliability-critical backend servicesused by enterprise restaurant brands.
This is an ownership-heavy role: defining problems clearly, shipping production systems, keeping them healthy, and improving them based on real customer usage.
Note on seniority:We care less about years on paper and more aboutambition, ownership, and talent. AI has changed the baseline where strong engineers adapt quickly, validate, and ship impactful work.
What you'll do
- Build and operate backend services primarily inPython (Flask / FastAPI)
- Design and runAWS-nativesystems (serverless where it fits) with pragmatic reliability, security, and cost awareness
- Own data and workflow foundations:PostgreSQL,ClickHouse, caching, queues, and event-driven processing
- Build and maintain high-impact integrations and workflows tied topayments, loyalty, marketing, and partner systems
- Improve production quality with strong observability and operational discipline usingCloudWatchandSentry(monitoring, debugging, and incident learning)
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering to turn ambiguous needs into clear scopes, measurable outcomes, and shipped systems
- Participate in customer/stakeholder calls when relevant to clarify requirements, unblock integration work, and support launches
Qualifications
- Strong backend fundamentals: correctness, data modeling, APIs, async workflows, and systems thinking
- Hands-on experience building and running production systems onAWSwith anAWS-nativemindset
- Strong communication with non-engineering stakeholders (IT / Marketing)
- Product-minded engineering: optimizes for outcomes and makes sensible trade-offs
- AI-native workflow:uses AI to accelerate execution while maintaining independent judgment, quality, and correctness
