Senior Software Engineer
Summary
The Senior Software Engineer will lead platform modernization initiatives, focusing on building scalable backend services in Golang for large-scale time-series data workloads. The role involves designing resilient systems, integrating event-streaming platforms, and utilizing AI-assisted tools throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse the existing platform architecture and codebase to understand system behaviour, dependencies, and technical constraints.
- Own end-to-end solution design and implementation planning for platform modernisation initiatives.
- Modernise data ingestion, processing, storage, and analytics capabilities for large-scale time-series workloads.
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Golang.
- Implement integrations with databases, event-streaming platforms, and supporting services.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to deliver modernisation initiatives.
- Leverage AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle, including code analysis, development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Follow engineering best practices in software design, testing, observability, automation, and operational excellence.
Requirements (Must Have)
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-grade applications.
- Strong proficiency in modern Golang development.
- Deep understanding of time-series data systems, including ingestion, transformation, aggregation, storage, and querying including experience in implementing & operating said solutions.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, and modern web application architecture.
- Experience with Kafka, event streaming, or real-time data processing platforms.
- Experience designing and building scalable, resilient, and maintainable software systems.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and software quality.
Preferred
- Experience with TimescaleDB or other time-series databases.
- Experience with Azure Cloud and Kubernetes.
- Experience leading application or platform modernisation initiatives.
- Experience in IoT, utilities, energy, or industrial systems
