Senior Software Engineer

Our client is an ambitious, well-funded technology startup building a next-generation SaaS platform where security, scalability and user experience are at the heart of the product.

They’ve spent the time building and proving the foundations. Now they’re ready to build out the product and are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineers who can genuinely own features from the data model right through to the user interface.

This isn’t your typical software engineer role. You’ll join a small, sharp and collaborative team across Australia and New Zealand, building, experimenting and shipping quickly.

You’ll be trusted to make technical decisions, challenge ideas and build things properly: clean architecture, automation-first, secure, scalable and future-proof.

You’ll get to:

• Own features end to end, from database and API design through to the UI
• Build backend services using Rust, AWS Lambda and API Gateway
• Build modern React Native across web, desktop and mobile
• Integrate AI and LLM services such as AWS Bedrock into real-world product features
• Work with technologies including OpenSearch and Neptune
• Contribute to RAG, vector search and MCP-based integrations
• Build secure AI functionality, including prompt injection defence, output validation and secure data handling
• Deploy your own work through CI/CD pipelines
• Influence product design, architecture and engineering culture

You’ll thrive here if you…

• Have substantial experience delivering complex, production-grade software across both frontend and backend
• Are comfortable owning a feature from inception through to production
• Have strong React and React Native experience
• Have backend experience with Rust or systems-oriented language,
• Have experience with AWS serverless architecture, particularly Lambda and API Gateway
• Understand NoSQL database design, ideally DynamoDB
• Have worked with real-time applications and WebSockets
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Can lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions and engineering best practice
• Are comfortable working in a collaborative, remote environment
• Enjoy ambiguity, experimentation and solving complex problems
