What we can do together:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Systems Architect to shape the architecture of complex digital applications supporting engineering, operational, and space-related activities.

You will translate business, user, and operational needs into sustainable application architectures and guide key technology decisions across the digital product portfolio.

You will work at the intersection of application design, user experience, system integration, data, cybersecurity, and software lifecycle considerations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own the architecture of digital solutions and drive its evolution throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Translate business, user, and operational needs into clear architectural and technical decisions.
  • Define application architectures across front-end, back-end, data, APIs, and integration with internal and external systems.
  • Work with UI/UX experts to ensure that the application architecture supports user needs and a consistent user experience.
  • Lead technology selection and architectural trade-offs, balancing usability, performance, interoperability, cybersecurity, cost, and maintainability.
  • Promote reusable components, common patterns, and architectural consistency across the digital product portfolio.
  • Maintain the application architecture baseline and the technical documentation required to support implementation, integration, and evolution.
  • Work with the Cybersecurity Authority, development, DevSecOps, integration, and validation teams to ensure that architectural decisions are correctly implemented and verified.
  • Provide technical leadership during bids, customer discussions, technical reviews, and engineering activities, while assessing technologies relevant to future solutions.

About you:

We are looking for an engineer with significant experience in complex digital applications and software architectures.

Specifically, you should have:

  • Min.5 years of experience in software architecture or application design for complex digital solutions.
  • Strong application architecture skills, with the ability to structure complex needs into clear components, interfaces, responsibilities, and data flows.
  • Strong understanding of modern web architectures and the interactions between front-end, back-end, APIs, and data services.
  • Practical experience with React and modern front-end development, together with experience in Go or Python for back-end services. Experience with Rust is a plus.
  • Good understanding of application integration patterns, API design, event-driven architectures, and data modelling.
  • Experience with cloud-native and container-based application environments.
  • Experience with application architecture modelling and documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of DevSecOps practices and their impact on software architecture and delivery.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity-by-design and experience integrating security requirements into application architectures.
  • Ability to evaluate architectural options, make justified trade-offs, and communicate technical decisions clearly.
  • Strong technical leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Additional skills and experience in any of the following topics would be highly valued:

  • Space operations, mission applications, ground segment systems, or satellite data processing or adjacent industries.
  • Data visualization, geospatial applications, telemetry displays, dashboards, or other data-intensive user interfaces.
  • Real-time, workflow-driven, or operational applications integrating multiple systems.
  • Design systems, reusable UI component libraries, or micro-frontend architectures.
  • Domain expertise in Digital twins, simulation platforms, federated applications, or engineering environments.
  • Software engineering standards and processes used in space or other mission-critical environments, such as ECSS.
