Senior SQL Database Administrator | SQL DBA
Salary: $8,000 – $10,000 per month
Our client is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and enhance enterprise database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for database architecture, administration, performance optimization, security, availability, and technical support.
This position will work closely with application, development, and infrastructure teams to ensure database platforms are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business and technology requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Administration
Design, implement, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database environments.
Develop and maintain database objects such as stored procedures, views, triggers, functions, and other T-SQL components.
Implement and support database replication solutions to maintain data consistency and availability.
Participate in database design and architecture decisions for new and existing applications.
Review database-related code and changes to ensure quality, performance, and adherence to technical standards.
Support the delivery of complex database projects and initiatives.
Performance & High Availability
Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server performance, identifying and resolving database bottlenecks.
Improve database performance through query optimization, indexing, configuration changes, and capacity planning.
Design, implement, and test high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions.
Support SQL Server Availability Groups and other database continuity technologies.
Develop and maintain backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
Establish standards for database connectivity, access, and configuration.
Security, Standards & Documentation
Establish and maintain standards for SQL Server installation, configuration, and implementation.
Implement database security and access controls in accordance with organizational requirements.
Support integration between SQL Server security and Windows/Active Directory environments.
Develop preventative maintenance procedures to ensure database stability and reliability.
Maintain documentation covering database architecture, configuration, operational procedures, and troubleshooting.
Ensure database environments follow established administration and security standards.
Technical Support & Collaboration
Act as a subject matter expert for SQL Server database technologies.
Provide technical guidance and support to application and development teams.
Troubleshoot database, connectivity, performance, and availability issues.
Communicate technical issues, resolutions, and project status to relevant stakeholders.
Participate in application development and infrastructure projects requiring database expertise.
Provide recommendations on database design, SQL development, performance, and best practices.
Required Technical Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Server 2012 or later.
Hands-on experience with SQL Server Availability Groups and high-availability technologies.
Strong T-SQL development skills, including stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.
Experience with SQL Server replication and linked servers.
Strong knowledge of database backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
Experience with SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
Knowledge of ODBC and database connectivity technologies.
Experience with Windows Active Directory and SQL Server security integration.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex SQL Server solutions.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DB2 / SQL environments on IBM i (AS/400).
Experience supporting large-scale or highly available enterprise database environments.
Experience working across application, infrastructure, and development teams.
Relevant Microsoft SQL Server certifications are a plus.
