Senior SQL Database Engineer- AI Ops- Major Bank

A major bank in Sydney is seeking a Senior SQL Database Engineer (AI Ops) for a permanent role.
The role will lead the adoption of AI in database operations, using analytics and trending to predict issues, accelerate resolution, improve IT serviceability and support data-driven decisions across capacity, performance, cost and risk.

Responsibilities:

• Engineer, maintain and optimise large-scale, mission-critical Microsoft SQL Server environment across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Drive database performance, availability and reliability through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning and advanced troubleshooting.
• Leverage AI and AIOps capabilities to predict potential database issues, identify anomalies, optimise queries and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain database security, governance and compliance standards, including encryption, auditing, access controls and vulnerability management
• Participate on-call roster and provide technical support to the during major incidents and events

Key Skills/ experience

• 8+ years of hands-on database engineering experience, supporting enterprise Microsoft SQL Server 2016
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server internals, relational database design and performance engineering
• Experience applying AI and AIOps to database engineering and operations, including AI-assisted development and query optimisation, anomaly detection, log and telemetry correlation, and predictive capacity forecasting.
• Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical environments, ideally within banking or financial services
