Senior/Staff Backend Engineer

Summary

Build and own core backend systems for an AI-driven threat-alert platform, integrating real-time 911 radio and social-media data to deliver verified alerts for enterprises.

About the Role

Join a lean, high-caliber core engineering team at a fast-growing AI-first platform in the critical event management space. This company helps enterprises — including major retailers, autonomous-vehicle companies, and utilities — stay ahead of physical threats by combining real-time AI-driven 911 radio monitoring with OSINT from major social networks to deliver verified, actionable threat alerts in seconds.

Founded in 2023 by public-safety technology veterans and backed by top-tier investors (Seed/Series A stage), the company has strong early traction with meaningful ARR and high customer retention. The core engineering team is small by design — you'll have real ownership and outsized impact.

We're adding 1–2 Senior or Staff Backend Engineers to the core team. This is a foundational hire.

What You'll Do

  • Own core platform functionality end-to-end, from initial design through polished delivery

  • Innovate on features the industry hasn't seen before — this is genuine 0→1 work

  • Collaborate closely with a small, senior core team and coordinate with supporting engineers

  • Dive across specialties as needed — backend infrastructure, AI pipelines, data systems, and more

  • Help shape engineering culture and practices at an early-stage company

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Senior-to-staff level backend engineering experience (typically 7+ years)

  • Demonstrated 0→1 ownership — you've taken a large project or product from idea to polished delivery, end-to-end

  • Flexibility and range across different engineering disciplines

  • Based in the United States

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building user-configured workflow systems

  • Experience building AI pipelines or agentic systems

  • Early-stage startup experience

  • Eye for product design and UX

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $180,000 – $205,000 annually

  • Fully remote (United States)

  • Visa sponsorship available for US work authorization (e.g. H-1B)

Location

This role is fully remote and open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
