Senior Staff Software Engineer Market Making
You will lead complex engineering work for real-time sports-market quoting, pricing, and risk-management systems. You will build and evolve low-latency components, implement risk controls, maintain decision logging, and partner with quantitative analysts and stakeholders to productionize strategies. You will guide technical decisions, review code and designs, improve software reliability and processes, mentor colleagues, support recruiting, and participate in on-call rotations where required.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve components for real-time quoting and decisioning with attention to latency, throughput, and correctness
- Create models and strategies with quantitative analysts and productionize the software with engineers
- Implement and maintain risk controls and guardrails, including exposure checks, limits, throttling, filters, and kill-switch patterns
- Ensure high-quality decision logging for debugging, replaying, and improving strategies
- Partner with quantitative analysts and stakeholders to define and monitor market-making metrics
- Write simple, extensible, thoroughly tested code that follows standards and best practices
- Lead code reviews, design discussions, planning, and ticket, metric, and COE reviews
- Classify, store, and handle data according to FanDuel policies
- Track, mitigate, and escalate security risks in a timely manner
- Resolve root causes of complex problems and improve software maintainability
- Train new teammates on the team's software, operations, security, and context
- Mentor and develop others
- Help recruit and interview candidates
- Estimate tasks accurately and deliver them on time
- Participate in on-call rotations where required and provide customer support
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, or 5+ years with an MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Experience with quantitative modeling practices and coding
- At least one frontend specialization in native apps using Kotlin or Swift, web apps using React with JavaScript or TypeScript, or hybrid apps using React Native
- Experience building or contributing to an advanced shared library, design system, or SDK
- Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances
- Knowledge of TypeScript, React, Angular, and/or Bootstrap
- Familiarity with full stacks, single-page applications, and/or micro frontends
- Expert experience with testing concepts, test tools, and testing best practices in the SDLC
- Familiarity working in an Agile environment
