Summary
Owns architecture and strategy for core trading systems, leads cross-team projects, and optimizes ultra-low-latency Java/C++ components for a crypto exchange.
You will own the architecture and strategy for core trading platform components, lead complex cross-team technical projects, and eliminate performance bottlenecks in ultra-low-latency systems. You will guide engineers, design resilient infrastructure, improve operational practices, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the long-term architecture and strategy for core trading platform components
- Lead complex cross-team technical projects
- Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across the trading architecture
- Implement low-latency and high-throughput Java solutions
- Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship
- Research emerging technologies and propose platform improvements
- Design resilient and fault-tolerant systems
- Drive monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-mortem practices
- Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Enforce software engineering, coding, testing, and deployment standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Expert-level modern C++ proficiency
- Knowledge of memory management, lock-free concurrency, template metaprogramming, and compiler-level performance tuning
- 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating high-performance distributed systems in Java
- Expert-level Java proficiency for performance-critical applications
- Knowledge of JVM internals, garbage collection tuning, and advanced concurrency patterns
- Experience leading architecture or major system components
- Expertise in message-oriented middleware
- Understanding of network protocols, Linux optimisations, hardware, SQL, NoSQL, DevOps, CI/CD, and monitoring
- Experience with matching engines, market data systems, or algorithmic trading strategies
- Knowledge of FIX Protocol
- Experience with FPGA, ASIC, or specialised networking components
