Role description:

Arcadis are excited to again be growing their structural team. We are looking for enthusiastic structural design professionals to join our team to work on a range of structural related projects. Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together.

Role accountabilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical engineering techniques and methods using international design standards such as us, Canada, UK, EU and other international and local Structural Design Codes.
  • Able to actively participate in safe design processes which consider safety during construction, operation and decommissioning through the use of hazard identification and risk assessment during design development.
  • Prepare drawing markups and other design related documents.
  • Oversee the project's detailed design and calculation.
  • Supervise the design and drawing markup processes.
  • Ensure design resources are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements and correctness of project deliverables.
  • Liaise with other disciplines within the Project Team for coordination and ensure all requirements are understood.
  • Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis requirements.
  • Liaise with the Function Leaders and Design Manager to keep informed of all developments or changes associated with the project.
  • Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports and technical reports for Design Managers.

Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Record man-hour charges accurately into weekly timesheets and ensure correctness of project and non-project man-hour charges.
  • To be fully utilized. Always seek new work/tasks from Principal Engineer/Function Leader.
  • Ensure that the engineers supporting him/her are fully utilized.
  • Identify risks and potential deviations to the project's required scope of work.
  • Ensure compliance with scope of works, time schedule and cost control.

    People Management Responsibilities

  • Resource and develop skills and knowledge base of Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers assigned to projects.
  • Familiarize the Training and Development Scheme and render mentoring duties to all Design, Assistant, and Graduate Engineers.
  • Lead a team on a project.
  • Conduct training and guidance to team members.
  • Liaise with BIM Manager and BIM Coordinators assigned to projects.
  • Work to ensure maximum performance and proactively work with the team members in Arcadis GECs, other Arcadis regions and Arcadis clients.
  • Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.
  • Work effectively with team members in Arcadis GECs and other Arcadis offices per agreed project working arrangements.
  • Plan assigned work and allocate work to ensure timely delivery and effective utilisation of resources.
  • Monitor the performance of junior team members identifying and ensuring resolution of any issues.
  • Self time-management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. A master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Licensed Registered Civil Engineer.
  • 8 to 10 years minimum relevant post-graduate experience.
  • Experience on large scale infrastructure metro projects (above and below ground station design) or industrial steelwork projects is an advantage.
  • Working towards Charterships with International Institutes in regions such as the UK, US, Canada or Australia is an advantage.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide solutions to technical problems.
  • Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
  • Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills.
  • Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management.
  • Highly proficient in the application of international design standards such as: US, Canada, UK&I, European and Australian.
  • Highly proficient in structural engineering design fundamentals
  • Knowledgeable in AUTOCAD, REVIT, Navisworks and BIM environment.
  • Highly proficient in using engineering software like: SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RISA, Robot, Tekla Structures, or SCIA.
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s digital initiative and automation of processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and has a proactive approach to task management.
  • Programming knowledge using C++, Python, Dynamo is an advantage.
  • Actively continue to develop personally and technical knowledge and new emerging technology through regular CPD training.
