Orbital is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer III with experience in structural steel and foundation design. This is a remote position within the United States. This position will require in-state and occasional out-of-state travel to client sites. The position requires experience in heavy industrial engineering projects—preferably in the Power Generation, Oil & Gas and Chemicals industries.
Essential functions

Lead projects with a variety of durations, prioritizing both long-term planning, as well as provide leadership in a fast-paced engineering environment requiring expedited turnaround.

Function as Project Manager, Lead Structural Engineer, Structural Engineer of Record, and/or Senior Engineer on specific projects as required.

Prepare, or supervise the preparation of, single or multidiscipline engineering proposals including development of scopes of work, project schedules and cost estimates.

Field engineering, structural inspections, and oversight of construction for designed repairs as they relate to work scope

Prepare, review, and/or check structural engineering calculations, designs, drawings, models, specifications, and other project documents related to structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, foundations, and industrial support systems as required.

Provide enhanced customer support as a technical liaison and support regional business development initiatives as a technical resource.

Lead engineering studies, calculations, detailed design documents and specifications, project cost estimates, and providing installation support services

Perform analytical modeling of structures and components of structures utilizing STAAD or RISA software

Structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation design

Manage project progress relative to project plan, schedule, and budget

Review calculations, drawings, and reports produced by other structural engineers

Review inspection reports from Orbital’s Asset Integrity group

Qualifications:

BS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university

15 years of prior professional experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas

MS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university preferred

Field Inspection experience, specifically heavy industrial facilities is preferred

AutoCAD and basic drafting knowledge preferred

Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and/or foundation design
-
Working knowledge of STAAD or RISA analytical software or equivalent
