Senior System Android with AOSP
Summary
Senior Android platform engineer building and evolving video collaboration software on AOSP for a global computer-peripherals maker. Day to day: debugging complex issues across OS, framework, and hardware layers, developing system services, and analyzing logs and traces (logcat, tombstones, Perfetto).
About the role
In this role, you will help build and evolve video collaboration software used every day in conference rooms at some of the world’s largest companies. You’ll work on products developed for a globally recognized manufacturer of computer peripherals and software, whose portfolio spans PC navigation devices, video communication and collaboration tools, audio products, smart home solutions, and more.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve complex Android platform and customer-reported issues across the full stack
Debug across the OS, Android Framework, system services, SDK layers, applications, and hardware/platform layers
Work across AOSP, the Android Framework, system services, and SDK layers
Identify recurring issues and build reusable solutions rather than simply fixing individual problems
Design scalable Android frameworks and solutions that minimize the effort required to port and maintain the platform across future Android releases
Analyze logs and traces (logcat, ANR traces, tombstones, native crash dumps, bugreports, Systrace/Perfetto) to isolate defects across framework, native, and hardware layers.
Work closely with engineering, QA, and customer-facing teams to understand issues and drive them to resolution
Stay current with new Android releases, APIs, platform changes, and architectural trends
Help establish a more robust and maintainable platform architecture that can evolve with future Android versions
Requirements
6+ years of Android software engineering, with deep experience in Android internals and AOSP customization
Strong command of the Android Framework, system services, and SDK layers, plus AOSP build and architecture
Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C/C++
Expertise in Android IPC (Binder, AIDL, JNI) and system-service development
Exceptional debugging and root-cause skills across OS, framework, applications, native services, and hardware/peripheral layers
Hands-on log/trace analysis: logcat, ANR traces, tombstones, native crash dumps, Systrace/Perfetto
Working knowledge of core Android subsystems: camera/media, audio, display, USB/peripheral connectivity, and networking
Ability to design scalable, reusable, maintainable solutions that reduce porting and maintenance effort across Android versions
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Upper-Intermediate or higher English level with confidence in daily communication with international teams
