Senior System Engineer (Development) - Data Scientist / Data Analyst (Power BI)
Overview
A leading organisation is seeking a senior system engineer specialising in Microsoft Power Platform development and data analytics. The role focuses on designing and delivering business applications, automation solutions, and reporting dashboards to improve operational efficiency and decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Application development (Power Platform)
Design, develop, and deploy custom business applications using Power Apps
Build automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline processes and reduce manual effort
Develop intuitive and user-friendly application interfaces across devices
Ensure solutions follow best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability
Data analytics and reporting (Power BI)
Create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
Develop and maintain data models using Dataverse and other databases
Deliver actionable insights through clear and structured data visualisation
Write efficient queries and support database design activities
Business engagement and solution design
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs
Translate pain points into technical solutions and measurable outcomes
Define success metrics for delivered solutions
Conduct user testing and gather feedback for continuous improvement
System optimisation and licensing
Analyse Power Platform licensing models and recommend cost-effective configurations
Optimise licence usage across Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse
Advise on licensing risks and optimisation strategies
Work with IT teams to monitor usage and manage licences effectively
Governance, documentation and support
Document technical specifications, workflows, and user guides
Ensure compliance with coding standards, security, and governance policies
Provide ongoing user support and training on developed solutions
Stay updated with Microsoft Power Platform updates and enhancements
Identify opportunities for further automation and digital improvement
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse)
Strong experience in data modelling and database design
Good understanding of business process automation
Experience with Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, and Office 365 is an advantage
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
Knowledge of Power Platform licensing models is highly desirable
Microsoft Power Platform certifications are a plus
