We are representing our client, a supplier of critical power conversion technology on the following.
SENIOR SYSTEM FIRMWAREENGINEER
Responsibilities
- Work alongside cross-functional partners to help define products,write specifications, and analyze requirements.
- Contribute to decisions on firmware architecture and developmentapproach, with particular emphasis on wired and wireless connectivity.
- Develop new products on schedule to satisfy specifications, whileupdating and refining existing designs to boost performance and reduce cost.
- Build, code, integrate, test, and maintain software for powerconversion systems, enhancing functionality over time.
- Carry out integration and validation testing to confirm thedifferent pieces of the overall solution work together correctly.
- Help assess current and emerging technologies to find options thathold up reliably across varied deployment environments.
- Design and deliver both embedded and PC-side software within aregulated product development process.
- Take part in every stage of the project lifecycle — from initialdesign and coding through unit testing, documentation, and final release.
- Mentor junior firmware engineers, offering guidance on theirevaluations and design work.
- Give the team technical direction and leadership.
- Support manufacturing by resolving design-related questions thatarise on the factory floor.
- Provide ongoing support for both prototype and production powersupply units.
- Work with both on-site and distributed teams to help integratesoftware with hardware components.
- Contribute to software quality activities, including SFMEAanalysis and peer code reviews.
- Support production and factory testing as part of broader systemintegration and validation efforts.
Requirements
B
- achelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical EngiHneering, or a closely related discipline.
- Understanding of power supply topologies and analog/digitalcircuit design is a plus.
- Working knowledge of software development, including Microsoft C#and GUI development.
- ands-on experience with microcontrollers and DSPs from vendorssuch as Microchip, TI, or ST.
- Experience debugging software within embedded systems.
- Exposure to digital control techniques or firmware for powerelectronics (e.g., PWM, ADC, digital filtering) is beneficial.
- Background in embedded systems or DSP-based control algorithms.
- Experience building communication stack drivers and networkingprotocols such as I2C, SPI, RS-485, PMBus, Modbus, or Ethernet.
- Familiarity with IoT concepts, TCP/IP, WebSocket, the LwIP stack,or FreeRTOS is an advantage.
- Proficiency using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters,and power supplies.
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics and datasheets.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., SVN) and structuredrelease processes.
- Knowledge of coding standards such as MISRA or IEC 62304 is aplus.
- Strong attention to detail and discipline, with a track record of writing clean, maintainable code.
- Skilled at diagnosing intermittent or hard-to-reproduce issues using various debugging methods.
