Senior Systems Administrator

Lead and evolve the technology infrastructure that underpins secure, reliable banking for our customers and employees.

Why join us?
  • Take ownership of critical infrastructure across networking, cloud, data centres, virtualisation, backup and security environments.
  • Influence the future direction of technology through roadmap development, solution design and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
  • Work across a broad and complex technology environment in a highly regulated industry where your expertise makes a genuine impact.
  • Join a customer-owned bank with strong community roots, supportive leadership and a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
About the role

As Senior Systems Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, enhancing and securing Hume Bank's core technology infrastructure. Reporting to the Manager IT Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the administration and performance of the Bank's networking, compute, storage, virtualisation, cloud and backup environments.
Working closely with Technology Delivery, End User Computing, Data & Analytics and Cyber teams, you'll provide technical leadership, support complex projects, investigate incidents and contribute to the ongoing stability and scalability of the Bank's technology platforms.
This is a hands-on technical role that combines operational excellence with strategic thinking. You'll identify opportunities to improve capability, manage technology risks, contribute to infrastructure roadmaps and help ensure the Bank remains secure, resilient and future-ready.
If you're passionate about infrastructure, enjoy solving complex technical challenges and want to help shape the future of technology in a growing regional bank, we'd love to hear from you.

What you can expect
  • Manage and maintain core infrastructure including networking, data centres, storage, compute, virtualisation, cloud services and backup platforms.
  • Support the availability, performance and stability of critical banking systems and technology services.
  • Lead infrastructure-related projects, providing technical expertise, solution design and implementation support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen capability and future readiness.
  • Support compliance, cyber security, disaster recovery, business continuity and risk management activities.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have demonstrated experience in a senior systems administration, infrastructure or technology operations role.
  • Possess strong technical expertise across networking, servers, virtualisation, cloud platforms and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • Have experience with technologies such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, VMware, Active Directory and PowerShell.
  • Bring strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of information security principles, risk management and infrastructure best practices.
  • Have experience operating within regulated or compliance-focused environments, ideally within financial services.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and build strong working relationships across the business.
  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline (desirable).
