Senior Systems Administrator

Salary: AUD 100 - 120 per hour

Are you a seasoned Infrastructure professional who thrives on complex environments, major transformation projects, and enterprise-scale technologies?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join a large and highly regarded organisation undertaking a significant virtualisation and infrastructure modernisation program. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the migration of hundreds of virtual machines while supporting critical enterprise systems across on-premise and cloud environments.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the migration of approximately 400 virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Planning, testing, implementing and validating complex infrastructure changes and migrations.
• Administering and supporting enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Managing and maintaining VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and Veeam Backup & Recovery platforms.
• Supporting infrastructure hosted across on-premises, Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
• Investigating and resolving complex Level 3 infrastructure incidents and technical issues.
• Managing incidents, problems, changes and releases through ServiceNow.
• Working closely with stakeholders, project teams, application owners and vendors to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to operational and project teams.
• Contributing to high availability, disaster recovery, security, monitoring and backup strategies.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Extensive experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Proven experience supporting Veeam Backup & Recovery solutions.
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale infrastructure or VM migration projects.
• Experience working within IT Service Management frameworks and platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across server, virtualisation and backup technologies.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively across operational teams, projects and external vendors.

Highly Regarded
Experience in any of the following will be advantageous:

• Enterprise-scale VMware to Hyper-V migration projects.
• Microsoft Azure and/or AWS infrastructure environments.
• High availability and disaster recovery platforms.
• Confluence documentation and knowledge management.
• Large, complex enterprise or government ICT environments.
