Yours Team's Impact

Network engineers at FactSet have a wide variety of responsibilities across the enterprise’s entire infrastructure. The role primarily consists of designing, automating, operating and troubleshooting FactSet’s various network systems, including but not limited to our WAN, LAN, SAN, WiFi, Load-balancing, Internet Ingress/Egress, DNS, AWS Cloud Networking, Network Automation and Market data environments.

This broad range of technologies, coupled with the nature of the position, often result in an engineer being required to quickly [re]acclimate themselves with a technology, become a subject matter expert in that domain, fix the problem/implement a solution and then move on to the next initiative. Candidates for this position should have solid experience with WAN/LAN technologies, TCP/IP, routing protocols and have a deep understanding of reference network architectures along with a significant level of ‘Hands On’ network OS experience. Additionally, candidates with a solid track record of interaction with ISPs, familiarity with automation tools, multicast experience, strong analytical, project management and troubleshooting skills will receive a higher level of consideration.

Past success designing or maintaining a network via automation is also expected. Candidates should have competence in at least one scripting language and experience with standard automation tools. A successful candidate for this position will have strong interpersonal skills, an elevated level of verbal and written dexterity and will enjoy providing effective and meaningful solutions for clients, both internal and external.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a strong consultative resource for FactSet's clients, vendors, and internal leaders.
  • Project manage business and network team initiatives.
  • Configure Cisco/Arista routers and switches, F5 Load Balancers, DNS platforms, and AWS cloud networking resources to provide reliable and scalable services.
  • Build solid and long-lived relationships with FactSet's clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as an escalation point for network incidents and advanced Layer 1-7 troubleshooting.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise network services including routing, switching, DNS, load balancing, cloud networking, and Internet connectivity.
  • Streamline existing and new processes using automation, templates, Infrastructure-as-Code, and workflow systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Anisble, Terraform, APIs, and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Build and support API-driven integrations across networking, cloud, DNS, load balancing, and security platforms.
  • Collaborate with cloud and platform engineering teams to support networking requirements for containerized and Kubernetes-based workloads.
  • Drive operational efficiency through automation, standardization, and self-service infrastructure capabilities.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers to help them achieve their career and project goals.
  • AnsibleParticipate in shift rotation for weekend on-call coverage.

What We're Looking For

  • BS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience of 4-8 years.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient and quickly learn new technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, architecture, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and isolate complex technical issues in a timely manner.

Core Technical Skills

  • TCP/IP stack, Routing and Switching protocols.
  • Load Balancers (F5 BIG-IP LTM,GTM,ASM, AWS ALB/NLB/GWLB, MetaLB and others).
  • DNS (AWS Route53, Cloudflare, UltraDNS, EfficientIP, BIND).
  • Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) networking services including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and Load Balancing.
  • Sound understanding of HTTP(S), DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, and related protocols.
  • Router and Switch architectures.
  • Wireshark and packet-level troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of on-premises, cloud, and hybrid network architectures.

Cloud & Modern Infrastructure

  • Good understanding of AWS/Azure/GCP cloud networking services including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and Load Balancing.
  • Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes networking concepts.
  • Understanding of service discovery, ingress/egress, and modern application networking requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively across network, cloud, platform, and security domains.

Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code

  • Experience with Python scripting and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and API-driven infrastructure management.
  • Understanding of Git-based workflows and source control management.
  • Experience working with JSON, YAML, and structured data models.
  • Exposure to SDK-based integrations and automation frameworks.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, Arista EOS, Linux, F5 TMOS and F5 F5OS.
  • Strong experience with DNS platforms such as EfficientIP, Infoblox, Route53, and Cloudflare.
  • Strong experience with load balancer platforms such as F5 BIGIP, AWS ELB, and opensource LBs.
  • Experience in designing enterprise, datacenter, cloud network architectures and supporting public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code and Network-as-Code implementation experience.
  • Python development & automation experience, and integrating infrastructure platforms through REST APIs and SDKs.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, AWS Codebuild or similar automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes platforms such as K8s, EKS, AKS, or OpenShift.
  • Understanding of container networking, ingress controllers, and service networking concepts.
  • Understand the modern datacenter stack and how today’s application compute and storage drive network requirements.
  • Financial industry experience and/or experience operating large-scale enterprise networks.
  • Experience mentoring, leading, or coordinating engineering teams.
  • Multiple vendor certifications (CCNP, CCIE, AWS, Azure, GCP, F5, etc.) are highly desirable.
  • Strong passion for automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
