We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – Infrastructure to join our team in Hamilton.
About the Role
This is a full-time permanent position working largely across our Enterprise customer base. The role provides technical leadership, design, implementation, and support expertise across infrastructure platforms including compute, storage, virtualisation, backup, networking, security, and operating systems. The successful candidate will work across customer projects, infrastructure upgrades, platform enhancements, and complex operational support activities.
What You'll Do For Us
Provide Microsoft Server OS implementation and support services.
Design, implement and support server, storage and virtualisation infrastructure.
Deliver data protection, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Implement new infrastructure solutions and enhance existing customer environments.
Perform infrastructure assessments, capacity analysis and lifecycle planning.
Monitor, administer and report on infrastructure platforms and services.
Provide Level 3 technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation and implementation records.
Contribute to solution design and infrastructure best practices.
Mentor team members and provide technical leadership where required.
Ensure accurate and timely logging of activity, project time and customer updates.
What You'll Bring In Your Kit Bag
One major certification such as VCP, MCSE, HPE, Dell, NetApp or equivalent qualification.
One or more vendor qualifications.
Technical involvement in medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions.
A sound understanding of the interaction between compute, storage, virtualisation, backup, recovery and security infrastructure platforms.
Proficiency across the following areas:
Core Microsoft technologies (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Windows Server)
Virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
Storage technologies (SAN, DAS, NAS)
Compute platforms (Dell, HPE, Lenovo or equivalent)
Data protection, backup and recovery (Veeam, Commvault, ASR or similar)
High availability and disaster recovery solutions
Infrastructure monitoring and management platforms
Windows deployment and patching
PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation
Data centre infrastructure and lifecycle management
Infrastructure assessments, capacity planning and technology refresh programmes
Security infrastructure technologies including authentication, privileged access and infrastructure hardening
Microsoft application knowledge would be beneficial including Exchange, SQL, Citrix and Remote Desktop Services.
Confidence to engage with our customers and talk them through the benefits of the solutions you are recommending.
