Senior Systems Engineer Manager

The Opportunity

The Sr. Systems Engineer Manager leads and develops a team of systems engineers supporting large-scale, mission-critical environments. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing integrated software and hardware solutions across virtualized enterprise, containerized, and consumer systems. The Sr. Systems Engineer Manager oversees systems planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, and information engineering. This position evaluates and troubleshoots system performance to ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities, while mitigating risks, controlling costs and schedule variance, and managing large-scale, integrated projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for virtual systems
  • Develops, deploys and supports customized VMware and containerized solutions
  • Creates and maintains as-built and other systems drawings (flowcharts, Visio diagrams)
  • Interprets and implements security baseline configurations for all system components
  • Designs and implements system security and data assurance
  • Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems
  • Troubleshoots technical issues, and develops and implements solutions
  • Identifies system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle
  • Conducts technical training and product briefings with customers
  • Supports operational and maintenance phase for as-built systems
  • Participates in special projects as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leads and mentors a team of systems engineers, providing technical direction, prioritizing workload, and delivering ongoing performance feedback to support professional growth
  • Oversees quality and accuracy of team deliverables, reviewing engineering work products and ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards
  • Serves as the primary technical liaison, coordinating team activities, and communicating status, risks, and expectations to customers and program leadership
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Active Secret security clearance with the U. S. Government required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education & experience

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities

  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering including virtual network analysis, design & installation
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience designing, installing and implementing supporting and maintaining IT Systems.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with VMware version 7.0 and above
  • 3+ years of experience in Horizon/VDI
  • Must be proficient in software-defined networking (VMware NSX-T, Rancher)
  • Strong problem solving, analytic, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes,)
  • VMware Certified Professional certification strongly preferred

  • Work may occasionally be performed in secure government facilities, requiring adherence to security protocols.
  • This position may involve travel to government test sites, training ranges, and operational locations, including potential OCONUS destinations for short periods of time.
  • Work may be conducted in laboratory, workshop, office, and field environments with varying conditions.
