Senior Systems Engineer
Job Purpose:
Our Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns.Job Responsibilities:
● Perform systems management and integration functions.● Demonstrate initiative through expansion of: technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, and organizational skills.
● Proactively identify any issues with OS functionality, abnormalities in performance, server hardware and software to ensure stability and availability 24X7X365.
● Maintain a strong working knowledge of ITIL Service Management is required. Be able to follow Change, Incident and Problem Management activities.
● Work with cross-functional teams throughout IT to isolate and resolve unplanned outages.
● Respond to alerts from the enterprise monitoring tools, automation and escalation from IT Service Now. Have a strong knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring Tools such as App Man and SolarWinds is critical. Familiarity with Incident Ticketing System (ServiceNow) is a plus.
● Responsible for providing day to day support for OS/HW recovery and availability, System Administration via pro-active monitoring for UNIX/Linux (Solaris, Linux) environments, troubleshooting using native OS tools.
● Troubleshooting and familiarity with various Middleware and Database components (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBOSS and Oracle) is essential.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
● Design, implement, and manage complex systems and infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, virtualization, networking, and cloud services, to meet business needs and objectives.
● Evaluate, recommend, and implement technologies, tools, and best practices to optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
● Perform system installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of IT systems and services.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT architects, developers, and project managers, to plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
● Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization to ensure efficient utilization of resources and infrastructure.
Work Experience:
● 5-10 years of related job experience.● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.● Experience designing data models and visuals using Power BI and Tableau.● Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.● Experience writing SQL queries (familiar with primary and foreign keys, as well as joins and aggregate functions).● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).● Strong planning and organization skills are required.Education:
