Are you the person others turn to when a technical problem doesn’t have an obvious answer?
We’re looking for an experienced and practical Systems & Integration Engineer who enjoys delivering real-world technology, investigating complex faults, and taking ownership of problems through to resolution.
You’ll join a small, highly capable technology company delivering integrated parking, payment, networking, server, and security solutions across New Zealand. Our systems operate in busy, business-critical environments including airports, hospitals, councils, universities, shopping centres, casinos, and major commercial car parks.
You’ll work across software, infrastructure, networks, payments, cloud systems, and physical devices—often bringing several different technologies together into one operational solution.
What you’ll be doing
Your primary focus will be technical delivery and advanced troubleshooting.
You will:
Deliver new systems, upgrades, migrations, and customer integrations.
Investigate complex faults across applications, servers, databases, networks and field equipment.
Take technical ownership of issues from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
Configure and support Windows Server, Linux, virtual infrastructure, databases, firewalls, and VPNs.
Install, configure, and commission parking, payment, licence plate recognition, VoIP and related systems.
Work with APIs, data exports, and third-party platforms to deliver customer-specific integrations.
Plan and complete system testing, commissioning, and customer UAT.
Provide technical escalation support to customers and other team members.
Attend customer sites for installations, fault resolution, and project commissioning.
Work with overseas vendors, local contractors, customer IT departments, and project stakeholders.
Produce clear technical documentation, system designs, as-built records, and support procedures.
Contribute to solution design, project scoping, and continuous improvement.
Technology you’ll work with
You’ll gain exposure to a broad technology stack, including:
Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux
Hyper-V, VMware, and Proxmox
Oracle and SQL-based databases
Fortinet firewalls, Layer 3 networking, SD-WAN and VPNs
Dell, HPE and Supermicro server hardware
3CX, SIP and Commend intercom systems
Payment solutions and terminals
License plate recognition technology
Parking access and revenue control systems (PARCS)
Parking-guidance technology.
APIs, cloud-hosted services, containers, and system integrations
Previous industry related experience is not essential. We’re more interested in your technical foundation, troubleshooting ability and willingness to learn specialist systems.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who:
At least five years’ practical experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, systems integration, or a similarly broad technical role.
Has strong technical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
Can work systematically across multiple technologies rather than focusing only on one layer.
Has experience supporting business-critical infrastructure or integrated technology environments.
Understands Windows Server, networking, virtualisation, and general infrastructure fundamentals.
Can interpret logs, test assumptions, and isolate the actual cause of a fault.
Has fundamental electrical knowledge, including save isolation awareness, relays, inputs/outputs, power supplies, and basic electrical fault finding.
Takes ownership and follows issues through instead of simply passing them on.
Communicates clearly with customers, technicians, vendors, and non-technical stakeholders.
Is comfortable working independently while remaining part of a close-knit team.
Can remain calm and methodical when dealing with urgent operational incidents.
Is organised, dependable and able to manage changing priorities.
Holds a full New Zealand driver licence.
Has the right to work in New Zealand.
Important requirements
This is primarily an office-based role, with some customer and project-site work as required.
Our systems operate nationwide and are often business critical. You must therefore be willing and able to:
Travel outside Auckland to provide onsite support, complete installations, and commission technology projects across New Zealand.
Occasionally stay away from home while completing project work.
Participate in an agreed after-hours support arrangement.
Assist with planned work outside normal business hours when operational environments require it.
Respond to urgent escalations when rostered or specifically arranged.
After-hours availability and travel expectations will be discussed clearly as part of the recruitment process.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal qualifications are valued, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered. Ideally, you will have one or more of the following:
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent networking knowledge and practical experience.
Relevant Microsoft certifications covering Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365, or infrastructure technologies.
Additional vendor certifications in networking, cybersecurity, virtualisation, or cloud technologies.
Strong practical troubleshooting skills and demonstrated technical experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
