ABOUT THE JOB
As a Camera Systems Engineer, you will be play a key role in the development of new infrared camera systems. A Camera Systems Engineer works with optical, mechanical and electrical engineers to bring together a single camera design. This role requires creative problem-solving to meet the customer specifications while balancing the complexity of the design. A camera systems engineer is responsible for understanding the various engineering aspects of the design and how they interact across domains (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical).
This role is heavily focused on prototype camera testing. The camera systems engineer will be responsible for modeling camera performance metrics (Responsivity, Operability, etc.) and then implementing the testing to verify. This typically involves writing engineering code (MATLAB, Python, etc.) to command/control the prototype cameras, infrared blackbody sources while sampling power supplies, temperature sensors and multimeters. The Camera Systems Engineer typically leads the image performance evaluation and testing. Often, the Camera Systems Engineer will be the one to uncover issues and therefore needs excellent communication skills to collaborating across teams to quickly and effectively resolve issues.
