Senior Systems Testing / QA Specialist – Senior
Summary
Contract senior QA role via Upstaff for Ontario's Justice Technology Services in Toronto: plan and execute functional/system testing, develop test plans/cases/scripts, track defects, lead UAT, and transfer knowledge on a new digital information system. Core tools: SharePoint, .NET web, HTML/JavaScript, and Jira/Azure DevOps/Asana; 100% onsite.
- Develop appropriate test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for functional and system testing.
- Prepare and execute functional testing and unit testing and accurately document test results.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects and change requests through resolution.
- Use collaborative defect and issue-tracking tools to communicate defect status and resolution progress to project participants.
- Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Lead initial UAT sessions and assist business and technical stakeholders throughout the UAT process.
- Work closely with clients, developers, project managers, business analysts, and other technical teams to ensure effective resolution of defects and completion of change requests.
- Maintain comprehensive testing and issue-tracking documentation.
- Participate in all applicable phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Assist other project groups with their testing activities and provide QA expertise as required.
- Participate in project meetings, status discussions, and defect/change management activities.
- Work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Provide knowledge transfer to the Project Manager and team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- Transfer knowledge through 1:1 meetings, team meetings, and documentation on SharePoint.
- Provide knowledge transfer covering codes and documentation of all types assigned to the role.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in defect tracking using a collaborative tool to manage defects and change requests.
- Experience communicating defect, change request, and resolution status to all relevant project participants.
- Demonstrated experience developing:
- Test plans
- Test cases
- Test scripts
- Test data
- Experience documenting software defects and tracking defects through resolution.
- Demonstrated experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Experience leading initial UAT sessions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

- Demonstrated experience documenting and tracking testing and issues using tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps Boards, or Asana.
- Demonstrated experience working with clients and technical teams to ensure effective defect resolution and completion of change requests.
- Previous experience working in Government or Public Sector organizations.
