Senior Talent Acquisition Manager - COO Function
About the role
At APM Terminals we are lifting global trade - building, automating and ramping up the new terminal capacity that keeps the world's supply chains moving. Our Business Implementation (BIM) portfolio, in the Chief Operating Officer (COO) organisation, delivers that growth and new-investment agenda.
As Talent Acquisition Manager - Business Implementation, you own the end-to-end recruitment of the senior and specialist talent that designs, builds, automates and ramps up new terminals. You manage a small, senior team of Talent Acquisition Specialists and Recruitment Partners, and you combine people management with hands-on delivery - partnering early with BIM senior management and Project Directors so the groundwork is in place before hiring begins.
Location and working model
- Based in The Hague, Netherlands - APM Terminals' global head office.
- Working in the office full time.
- Permanent, full-time. Travel occasionally to project sites.
What you will do
- Own end-to-end delivery of senior and specialist BIM hiring - typically JL3-JL6, including Director and Senior Manager profiles - across Asset & Engineering, Operations Technology, Automation and project-leadership job families.
- Partner hands-on with BIM senior management, Project Directors and People Business Partners at project kick-off, making sure the workforce plan, budget, job profiles and staffing plan are confirmed before requisitions open.
- Run kick-off and intake calls, calibrate shortlists and coach hiring managers on our interview methodology, assessment tooling, Employee and Leadership Expectations and approval matrices.
- Drive proactive talent mapping and pipelining for recurring senior-management and niche technical profiles, reducing agency dependence and shortening time to hire for hard-to-fill roles.
- Own portfolio reporting through the bi-weekly BIM Hiring Dashboard (time to accept, time to fill, ageing, Red/Amber/Green status by job level and source mix) and represent BIM delivery in TA&A and COO governance reviews.
- Manage, coach and develop a small, senior team of Talent Acquisition Specialists and Recruitment Partners dedicated to the BIM portfolio, allocating capacity against the forward pipeline and balancing workload across regions and projects.
- Manage executive search and Preferred Supplier List providers where engaged - briefing, calibration, cost control and invoice reconciliation.
- Safeguard data hygiene and process discipline in Workday across all requisition stages.
- Embed continuous improvement - Kaizen and Lean countermeasures - to standardise and improve the quality, speed and diversity of BIM hiring.
- Build inclusive shortlists and diverse senior pipelines for growth roles, advancing our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion goals.
What we are looking for
- Substantial recruitment experience with a proven track record in senior and executive-level hiring, ideally within a global matrix organisation.
- Strong stakeholder management with senior executives, Project Directors and People Partners - able to influence and set expectations up front.
- Experience recruiting for ports, terminals, infrastructure, construction, engineering or heavy-industry environments.
- Experience managing or coaching recruiters or a recruitment team, or acting as a senior point of contact for a portfolio.
- Advanced knowledge of Workday Recruiting or a comparable enterprise Applicant Tracking System, including reporting and dashboarding.
- A proven ability to deliver to tight project timelines and to forward-plan against a demand pipeline.
- Familiarity with Lean and continuous-improvement ways of working is an advantage.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; a Master's in HR, Business Administration or a related field is an advantage.
- Full professional proficiency in English; a second language is an advantage.
- Willingness to work across time zones and to travel occasionally to project sites.
What we offer
- A visible, high-impact role at the centre of APM Terminals' growth and new-investment agenda, working directly with BIM senior management.
- The chance to build and develop a small, senior recruitment team and to shape how we hire for our biggest projects.
- A truly global, matrixed environment with exposure to major terminal, automation and infrastructure programmes.
- A Lean company where every colleague is trusted to spot problems, raise ideas and make work safer and smarter, every day.
- An international, inclusive culture and the support to develop your career across our worldwide network.
