Louisville, KY | Full-Time
Trueline is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to prepare individual income tax returns, provide thoughtful tax planning, and build lasting client relationships within an established boutique tax practice.
This opportunity is well suited to a tax professional who enjoys hands-on work, takes ownership of deadlines, and wants a meaningful role on a small team. Experienced CPAs interested in future practice leadership are encouraged to apply, as are strong Enrolled Agents and tax accountants seeking continued technical growth.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns, including returns involving self-employment income, rental properties, and other complex tax situations.
- Manage an assigned client workload, track outstanding information, and meet filing deadlines.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and support tax planning.
- Prepare partnership, S-corporation, and trust returns based on your experience, with opportunities to develop additional expertise.
- Collaborate with wealth management professionals to support coordinated tax and financial planning.
- Use cloud-based tax preparation and document-management tools to support accurate, efficient work.
- Review returns and contribute to process improvements as your experience allows.
- Potentially take on mentoring, advisory, or practice leadership responsibilities over time.
What You’ll Bring
- Professional income tax preparation experience, ideally within a CPA firm or public accounting practice.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prepare individual income tax returns, including Schedule C and Schedule E.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Clear, professional communication and a client-service mindset.
- Willingness to work additional hours during tax season, generally around 50 hours per week, with some peak weeks approaching 60.
- Ability to work with a Louisville-based team and attend the office as required.
Candidates with two to three years of strong, relevant experience are encouraged to apply. More experienced tax professionals are also welcome.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license or Enrolled Agent credential.
- Experience using CCH Axcess Tax.
- Experience preparing partnership, S-corporation, or trust returns.
- Complex individual or high-net-worth tax experience.
- Tax planning, return review, or IRS representation experience.
- Interest in mentoring, practice growth, or future leadership.
Business and trust return experience is helpful but not required for candidates with strong individual tax preparation skills.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- An established client base without a requirement to bring a book of business.
- Direct client relationships and collaboration with wealth management professionals.
- Modern technology, including CCH Axcess, Liscio, and SurePrep.
- Opportunities to expand your technical expertise and responsibilities.
- Flexibility in how work is organized, with scheduling and office expectations discussed during the interview process.
