Job Description:

As a key part of the Corporate Tax Team, this role contributes to meeting the income tax reporting and compliance obligations of Sun Life Financial and its Canadian subsidiaries.

What will you do?

• Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of federal, provincial income tax returns for Sun Life Financial and its Canadian subsidiaries

• Assist with preparation of formal responses to queries from tax authorities

• Responsible for portions of the Canadian quarterly consolidated income tax provision process including the current and future tax asset/liability reconciliation

• Keep apprised of changes in accounting and financial reporting to ensure tax implications are understood and communicated

• Assist with technical research and analyses for reporting purposes

• Assist with preparation of technical memo and process documentation

What do you need to succeed?

• As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec

• Good understanding of compliance processes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Taxprep

• Working knowledge of SAP

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to meet tight deadlines

• Ability to work with a high degree of independence and participate in a team environment

Preferred:

• CPA is an asset

• MTax or CICA Indepth Tax Course desirable

• Knowledge of Longview is an asset
