Profile Summary
The consultant will operate as a Senior Technical Business Analyst within Risk, Product Control and ESG IT, supporting complex CTB change across Risk and/or Product Control platforms.
The role requires a highly experienced analyst who can work closely with senior development leads, principal engineers, solution designers and business stakeholders, translating ambiguous business, regulatory, methodology and operational needs into clear, testable and delivery-ready requirements.
This is not a generic requirements-gathering role. The consultant must be technically credible, delivery-focused and comfortable working across business processes, data flows, system integrations, controls, testing, production readiness and governance.
The role will support new product onboarding, methodology changes, regulatory-driven enhancements, platform modernisation, data and reporting change, system integration, process improvement and selected greenfield components within a production-facing financial services environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead business and technical analysis across Risk and/or Product Control change initiatives, from initial scope definition through to delivery and implementation.

• Work directly with senior engineers, solution designers and delivery leads to translate business requirements into functional specifications, technical analysis, data mappings, interface requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Analyse current-state and target-state business processes, system flows, data flows, controls, dependencies and operational impacts.

• Produce high-quality analysis artefacts including business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, process flows, interface specifications, test scenarios and implementation documentation.

• Work with developers to define clear, complete, prioritised and testable backlog items.

• Analyse data requirements across relational databases, data warehouse components, document databases, reporting layers, upstream feeds and downstream consumers.

• Support integration analysis across REST APIs, file transfers, enterprise data sources, messaging platforms and event-driven components.

• Define and document business rules, calculation logic, validation rules, exception handling, reconciliation requirements and audit/evidence expectations.

• Support functional, regression, integration, reconciliation, UAT, performance and operational-readiness testing.

• Support test planning, test case definition, test evidence, defect triage, business sign-off, implementation readiness and post-release validation.

• Identify risks, issues, dependencies and delivery blockers early, providing clear impacts, options and recommendations.

• Support migration, modernisation and platform-aligned change, including data migration, API-led delivery, batch replacement, event-driven processing and production supportability.

• Work across multiple delivery streams while maintaining traceability from requirements through to delivery and testing.

Key Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Solution Analyst or Lead Analyst in a complex enterprise technology environment.

• Strong experience delivering CTB / Change-the-Bank initiatives across production-facing systems.

• Proven ability to work as a peer to senior developers, solution designers and delivery leads, with sufficient technical fluency to challenge and shape solutions.

• Experience translating complex business, regulatory, methodology or operational requirements into clear, structured and testable delivery artefacts.

• Strong understanding of business processes, data flows, system integrations, controls, testing and production-readiness activities.

• Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to understand data models, write or interpret SQL, validate data mappings, investigate data issues and support reconciliation.

• Good understanding of relational databases, data warehouse structures and reporting/data-consumption patterns.

• Good understanding of REST APIs, interface contracts, request/response structures, validation and error handling.

• Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architecture concepts such as publishers, consumers, queues, topics, retries and message contracts.

• Ability to work with structured data formats such as JSON, XML and CSV.

• Ability to define non-functional requirements covering performance, resilience, security, auditability, monitoring, supportability and operational readiness.

• Strong stakeholder-management skills across business, technology, methodology, operations and delivery teams.

• Experience working in Agile, hybrid or structured SDLC environments using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint or equivalent.

• Experience working within financial services or another regulated environment is highly desirable.

Nice to Have

• Experience within Risk IT, Product Control IT, regulatory technology, financial control, valuation, P&L, market risk, credit risk or ESG.

• Familiarity with OpenShift, Kubernetes, containerised services or platform modernisation.

• Familiarity with development and delivery tooling such as Git/Bitbucket, Bamboo or equivalent.

• Practical understanding of AI-enabled analysis and productivity tooling.
