Senior Technical Business Analyst

Join Entelect Australia – and become more.

As our footprint across Australia and New Zealand continues to grow, we're looking for experienced Senior Technical Business/Systems Analysts to help establish a core delivery team for one of our key clients in the discovery phase of a major initiative. If you thrive on solving complex problems, can bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery, and bring clarity where there's uncertainty, we want to hear from you.

At Entelect, we're a tribe of passionate technologists. We celebrate the skills each person brings, support one another's growth, and take pride in delivering high quality, modern software, all while enjoying the journey.

About the Role

Entelect is partnering with a client to establish a core delivery team during the early discovery phase of a significant program. This is a critical opportunity to influence the foundation of the project, from processes and requirements to the initial technical direction.

As the Senior Technical BA, you'll work closely with architects, engineers, delivery managers, and stakeholders to uncover true business needs, design workable solutions, and ensure all moving parts connect seamlessly. You won't be coding, but you'll need the technical fluency to hold your own in architecture discussions, work alongside software engineers, challenge flawed requirements, and translate between business goals and system realities. This role is suited to someone who has built their career within software development environments and is comfortable discussing APIs, integrations, system behaviour, and technical solution design.

This is more than a "requirements gathering" role. It's consulting at its core. You'll be trusted to guide thinking, ask the right questions, and help the client make informed decisions that stand up over the long term.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Driving discovery activities to define business needs, technical constraints, and solution options

  • Facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders to extract, clarify, and prioritise requirements

  • Producing clear technical and process documentation that both business and engineering teams can work from

  • Producing technical artefacts including API requirements, integration specifications, data mappings, process flows, and user stories that enable software engineers to deliver with confidence

  • Building strong relationships across client and delivery teams to ensure alignment

  • Translating between technical designs and business language without losing detail

  • Working closely with architects and software engineers to define APIs, integration approaches, system behaviours, and non-functional requirements during discovery and solution design

  • Challenging assumptions and flawed requirements early, with diplomacy and evidence

  • Mentoring and supporting junior BAs in the team

  • Helping shape delivery processes that set the team up for success

What We Offer

  • A flexible hybrid working model (must be available to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office 2 to 3 days per week)

  • $400 allowance to set up or enhance your home office

  • A paid day off on your birthday

  • Continuous professional development through certifications, external courses, in-house training, and global learning platforms

  • Opportunities to work on projects across diverse industries and tech stacks

What We're Looking For

  • Currently based in Melbourne or Sydney with full Australian working rights

  • Strong experience as a Technical Business Analyst (minimum 5 to 6 years) working within software engineering or software development environments, delivering custom software or enterprise applications rather than primarily business transformation or operational change initiatives

  • Deep understanding of systems design, REST APIs, system integrations, data flows, authentication concepts, and data models. You'll be comfortable reading API documentation, interpreting JSON payloads, and participating in technical design discussions (no coding required)

  • Demonstrated experience working alongside software developers, architects, QA engineers, and delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Experience in greenfield or discovery phase projects

  • Confident facilitator who can operate with both technical and business stakeholders

  • Proven ability to mentor and lead other analysts while delivering your own work

  • Mentoring and leadership experience is strongly preferred

  • Consultancy experience is highly regarded

Please note: This role is best suited to Technical Business Analysts who have worked extensively within software development teams. Candidates whose experience has been primarily focused on business process improvement, operational analysis, or non-technical business analysis are unlikely to be a good fit.
