AWS Network Firewall, NAT gateway, Network Load Balancer (NLB), and Gateway Load Balancer (GWLB) sit in the data path for a large share of AWS customer traffic. Customers rely on them to secure, translate, and distribute traffic at global scale. We're looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (Sr. TPM) who can break down complex, ambiguous problems and has a strong drive to deliver.
In this role, you'll own programs across a portfolio of network services where availability, security, and performance are essential. You'll set a high bar for operational and engineering excellence. You'll be a hands-on, pragmatic problem solver who can weigh trade-offs between competing priorities. You'll do well in a fast-moving environment with complex cross-team dependencies, where ambiguity is normal and creative solutions are expected.
Key job responsibilities
As the Sr. TPM for Network Firewall, NAT gateway, and Load Balancers, you'll work with engineering, product management, security, and senior leadership to raise the bar on how these services are built, launched, and operated. You will:
* Lead end-to-end technical programs across the portfolio, including feature launches, infrastructure and fleet improvements, and multi-team initiatives that span several services.
* Drive security and compliance programs, working with internal security and audit teams to find gaps, set priorities for fixes, and track them to completion.
* Align engineering teams on how to architect, plan, and implement improvements and new programs, especially where work cuts across service boundaries.
* Translate business strategy into technical requirements, with clear milestones, owners, and timelines, using both technical and business judgment.
* Raise the operational bar by driving availability, resilience, and operational-readiness programs, and by turning lessons from operational events into lasting mechanisms.
* Partner across functions with Product Management, UX, engineering, security, and leadership to give customers a secure, reliable, high-performance networking experience.
* Think big and look around corners by leading long-range planning and making sure the organization invests in the right areas for the long term.
* Own complex dependencies, including cross-team requirements, release schedules, regional expansion, and trade-off decisions, and communicate status and risks clearly to senior leadership.
A day in the life
You'll spend your time where the portfolio's hardest problems meet. On a given day you might run a launch-readiness review for a new Network Firewall capability, align NLB and GWLB engineering teams on a shared infrastructure dependency, review progress on a security remediation program with audit partners, and write a document that frames a multi-year investment for leadership. You'll work closely with engineers and principal technologists, and you'll be trusted to make calls, unblock teams, and keep programs moving.
