Job purpose

The jobholder is responsible to conduct the instrumentation and control maintenance for equipment located in the respective asset, plant, or equipment to ensure that the maintenance activity is performed safely, continuously and reliably working according to its intended purpose at a high quality level. The jobholder will maintain personal tools and housekeeping at the instrumentation and control workshop to serve its purpose according to defined KPIs, and coordinate and follow-up with contractors and other external parties, as required.

Key accountabilities

Maintenance execution

  • Perform the assigned jobs as per the risk assessment and comply with ADNOC HSE procedures.
  • Perform scheduled predictive, preventative, and proactive maintenance on plant equipment as per approved procedures and work instructions to ensure proper operating conditions of company assets and adherence to international standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on all types of equipment independently with minimal supervision.
  • Report job details through proper communication channels on the assigned tasks.
  • Perform time writing in SAP for all activities performed.
  • Provide technical feedback in the SAP notification for the job performed.
  • Observe status of equipment during routine inspection activities for abnormalities and report any defects to the relevant line.
  • Assist or conduct major and minor repairs on critical equipment shutdowns and maintain data log of jobs.
  • Propose improvement ideas to enhance HSE, maintenance programs, and reliability of the equipment.
  • Support commissioning and pre-commissioning activities for new projects.
  • Support plant operation during emergency, shutdown, shift operation, silent hours, and plant start-up.
  • Support and participate in company On Call system design for handling unplanned shutdowns and process upsets.
  • Conduct new installations, modifications, and testing of equipment through various stages as per plan and in line with technical instructions, checking adherence to all parameters before handing over equipment to operations.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and isolate faulty components on instrumentation and control equipment using manufacturers’ manuals, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Perform troubleshooting, shutdown maintenance, repair, and overhaul on all instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Conduct repairs on several types of instrumentation and control equipment, which includes repairing or replacing defective parts, obtaining necessary supplier parts and tools as necessary, and testing to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Carry out maintenance on various field instruments including transmitters calibration, indications troubleshooting, valves stroking, and function checks.
  • Perform control system health checks during silent hours and based on diagnostic alarms.

Workshop & spare parts

  • Operate and maintain the instrument workshop and evaluate benches by providing the necessary lubrication of the equipment, checking the instrument air quality and supply pressure, checking the voltage levels, and maintaining the equipment and tools in good condition as per OEMs.
  • Maintain the necessary housekeeping in the workplace.
  • Comply with all HSE and fire-related rules and regulations and observe all requirements stringently.
  • Discuss work assignments with the supervisor, examine faulty equipment to determine scope of work, and obtain necessary tools and spare parts before starting the job.
  • Identify spare parts required for maintenance work from manufacturers’ drawings and spare parts lists.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills

  • Diploma or equivalent technical qualifications in Instrument & Control discipline.
  • Effective communication and technical report writing skills in English.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in installation, repair, testing, and maintenance of a wide range of equipment items of production facilities in an oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of HSE requirements for field maintenance jobs.
  • Hands-on SAP basic operations related to maintenance and basic computerized tools.
  • Inspect and test equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters.
  • Vast experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of control valves and transmitters.
